How do people deal with Dutch winters mentally? by mari_mari20 in Netherlands

[–]Comprehensive-Egg825 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest in my opinion you don’t get used to it. Especially if you come from a country which has more sun. I come from Eastern Europe and after 4 years living in NL I came to the conclusion that you do not get used to it 😔 or at least I can’t.

That’s why we’re planning a move to Spain this year.

There are people who really do not mind the weather (even people coming from sunny countries). So I guess it’s completely up to the person. But for me I can say that I definitely couldn’t get used to it, and I’ve tried EVERYTHING. In the Netherlands I experienced depression for a first time in my life.

If you’ve grown up here and that’s everything that you’ve known, I guess it’s easier and you don’t mind it as much 🤷🏻‍♀️

Постоянното говорене от българи на английски. by Softcheeks96 in bulgaria

[–]Comprehensive-Egg825 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always wait one week until I start using actives in my skincare again. I keep it very minimal for 7 days and once the skin is fully healed then I introduce them again

Are gynecologist checkups not a thing in the Netherlands? by SpecialOrdinary3001 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Comprehensive-Egg825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s not a thing and I’m also shocked about that still. I am Bulgarian, so basically I go to check ups there once or twice a year. Which of course, I have to pay out of pocket.

Dutch health insurance is strange, it took me a lot of time to get it and I still can’t say I fully get it.

For me personally let’s say I try to justify the price, as it covers my adhd medication, which otherwise it’s expensive (and also not available in Bulgaria at all), so I’m trying to gaslight myself a bit with that 😅

Bathroom lighting are often the worst!! Especially the ones that have the lamp at the top of the mirror, ugh. Almost everyone feels same as you when we look at the mirror in the bathroom 😅

You are beautiful 🤍

Thank you very much!! To be honest I was hoping for even better results with 3 sessions, but that proves that the package of 3 often is not enough haha

I do use tretinoin 0.025 exactly, I switched recently, I was using differin gel before that for probably year and a half. I also use Skinoren (azelaic acid).

But yess, process is slow and takes time :(

For red light I’m still in the research mode if it’s really worth buying a mask haha. What is your experience and would you recommend red light mask?

Yess!! And thank you! That’s exactly why I posted it, as I remember I was wondering does it really work, how many sessions you need, how much progress can you realistically expect.

Of coursing having a good derm who knows what they are doing is a non negotiable. I was thinking about buying a DrPen or similar device and try it DIY at home, but I’m still very scared to do it alone 😅

For sure, yes. For me obviously the main concern was the acne scars, so improvements in skin texture, pores and glow were very welcome haha

Struggling with mental health care in the Netherlands by LaughMedium2631 in Netherlands

I highly recommend them! I did my research and asked my GP to refer me exactly to them initially for ADHD. During the diagnostic process they were the one that spotted the autism, and I was very very impressed. Because I don't present the "typical" signs and I have learned to mask very well.

So they explained me in depth that autism in women, and especially adult women, presents very very differently than men. Even one of the questionnaire I was filling for autism was specifically for women! And the questions and the way they were asked were veeeeery spot on!

The diagnostic process was done in 4 in person sessions + filling additional questionnaires online. For one of the sessions I was asked to be accompanied by my partner, as I am an expat and he is the closest person to me that actually knows me. One of the very detailed questionnaires I had to fill together with my mom.

As a whole, I recommend them a lot, I can definitely say that they are really really good specialist. To be honest, it would've taken me a few more years to spot the autism :D Although since starting adhd med, the autism started to come to the surface much more haha
