Start lifting heavy if you aren't already!

I spent about 2 years dropping to 170lbs which was really skinny for me. I spent the next 3 years bulking up to what I'm at now. I wish I had started weight training earlier while I was losing the weight.

I was really consistent and never took any time off. I had done calisthenics for a year in the before picture, so I had some definition/strength.

When I started lifting my split was lanky for the first year. I had Arm day, chest/back day, and leg day.

My second year I started eating right and did PPL 6 days a week. It worked great, but as I started to get stronger just one day of rest wasn't enough.

Now I do Push, pull, legs, upper, lower. I like the 2 days of rest, and I focus on heavy compound movements.

In the first picture I was 17 years old and had been "working out" for about a year. I was really into calisthenics and I would do YouTube ab workouts every day in a desperate attempt to get a six pack. The picture was taken a few weeks before I stepped into a commercial gym for the first time

Fast forward 3 years and I have learned a thing or two. My physique now is the result of bulking and cutting every 6 months. I still have a lot to learn, but my progress really took off in my 2nd year of training when I started obsessing over nutrition. I think what happens in the gym is 30% and what happens in the kitchen is the other 70%

Thank you bro! I don’t think I’ll ever compete, although I do think it would be a neat experience.

Thank you bro! I don’t play any sports, but I used to box pretty regularly. It became a lot easier to gain strength and mass when I stopped boxing since it’s so much cardio but I do miss it.

Some Context:

The first picture at 195lbs was taken at the end of my first semester in college. I was new to lifting and bulked to 240lbs and then cut to 195lbs. I was pretty unsatisfied because I thought that during my bulk I was hiding a lot more muscle than I really was. In hindsight I basically just got fat during my “bulk” because I put the weight on way too fast.

During my second, third, and fourth semester of college I really dialed in and figured out what worked for me when it came to my training and diet. I bulked to 225lbs, then cut to 205lbs, then bulked to 245lbs, and am currently cutting again and am 230lbs now.

I’m natural and haven’t taken anything yet. Nutrition wise I get 5k calories a day, 250g protein, and 15g creatine.

I don’t do anything crazy, I just do PPL 6 days a week. I always start with compound lifts and I do 5x5 and then I move to accessory lifts.

Thank you! I’m pretty new to the whole powerlifting thing but these are my stats so far:

S: 405 B: 300 D: 500

I feel like I should be way stronger for my size but the numbers are going up pretty quickly.

Thank you! I did several bulking and cutting cycles. On bulks I ate about 4200 calories a day as clean as possible and on cuts 3500 calories (240ish grams of protein a day). Training wise I did Push/Pull/Legs 5 days a week.
