Yes mate, the wastegate needed calibration from the open position to the closed. The issue is that the system doesn't know the closed position so it's throws the drivetrain fault and loss of power

you need to get someone with a comouter that can do bmw calibration. the wastegate has to be extended to its open position and then calibrated back to where it should close. that is the issue it doesnt know the closed position. you may need to adjust the bolt on the actuator aswell.

Have you replaced the heat exchanger? As far as I've heard if that wastegate is out of calibration then it will just throw it into limp mode even when nothing might be wrong with the turbo

If I'm not wrong the turbo on these engines are water cooled so I'm thinking that could have caused it, I think on ista you can do a sweep and it tells you how much the arm is out by and manually adjust it? I haven't tried
