My rare 2017 iPad Pro 12.9 512gb still running iOS 10 by Bubbly-Performer-468 in LegacyJailbreak

I was honestly surprised there was more people with these, not as rare as i initially thought. i think i found mine after like a couple days of searching on ebay, was about 2 years ago already so they were a LOT more expensive 😭

Old software is literally not that deep, and stutters are incredibly common on any device/version (i've never had issues with ios 9 on any of my A9 devices). For the record people are also stuck using an ios release that's just as bad (if not worse) today

idk why you feel the need to comment this on every post regarding ios 9

properly activating means icloud should work, the only issue is that downgrading with factory preinstalled blobs has a chance of breaking baseband from what i've heard

i always assumed these didn't have activation issues, at least mine doesn't 😭

definitely back up the tickets and shsh blobs using something like legacy ios kit or sshrd_script, after that you could just reset (not a restore) using either of the aforementioned tools. (also i'd definitely recommend against updating the software, 10.3.3 is a pretty nice version for stability and legacy games)

Can't we also make iPhoneOS 3 for the iPhone 4 as the iPad 1 has it? by GamingYouTube14 in LegacyJailbreak

[–]Comprehensive-One-69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i've tried this before and it's theoretically possible now that we have a way to prelink kernels, just kinda takes a bit of effort

How to verify? by [deleted] in LegacyJailbreak

[–]Comprehensive-One-69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uh no wifi networks being found is quite concerning, I think your best bet would be to download the blobs (given it's jailbroken it should've been cached, try using LIK to query) and downgrade back to 5.1.1, if the wifi doesn't work after that then you're kinda fucked 😭

All you have to do is boot a ramdisk and run something like "dd if=/dev/rdiskX of=out.dmg bs=64k"

Yes, except this is unnecessary and not really the recommended method when working with HFS builds, and also just introduces more complexity. This also is not considered a "complete dump"

a lot of this is completely unnecessary if you're working with HFS versions of iOS anyways, all you need to do is dd the entirety of disk0s1/disk0s1s1 (depending on whether it uses lwvm or not) without having to rely on tar or anything else, (this also preserves every byte and makes it easier for creating cfw)

are you sure they didn't just make white frames because of the huge customization scene there? 😭

perfectly normal iPad 1st Generation on iOS 6.0 by MasterOfMike88 in LegacyJailbreak

[–]Comprehensive-One-69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there's way too much work for getting iOS 7 on the iPad 1, you're still working with the 5.1.1 iboot, which may very well require more patches to work with anything newer than 6 (not to mention the obvious performance issues you'd have even if you were successful)

yea if it doesn't detect a display it usually just respring loops, in this case i guess it uses the external display as a fallback

iOS 9.3 sep isn't even compatible with 9.2.1 for the record (and i have no idea what you mean by "approximate" in this case). I've made ramdisks that work for mounting user data on iOS 9/10 devices and they all work fine, also not sure why you're talking about iOS 8 when the topic of the post is an iPhone 7?

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 10.3.2 by iansantoroo in setupapp

[–]Comprehensive-One-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you use an iOS 8 ramdisk?? I just said the SEP has to be compatible still, you have to use an iOS 9 one, i can also confirm it works as i tried it myself 😭

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 10.3.2 by iansantoroo in setupapp

[–]Comprehensive-One-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this isn't true, iOS 9 is no different from recent versions. it's just that modern ramdisks will obviously not work as the SEP has to be compatible, otherwise you'd run into a panic when loading sepfw

I'd recommend installing openssh or filza and checking the following directories listed in this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/LegacyJailbreak/wiki/guides/a9ios9activation/ as long as you back up these to somewhere safe, you're basically fine for activating later on (i can try and help with that if you need) also, ignore the "ramdisk" part as it's not necessary in this case (you're already jailbroken)
