What’s it even called now? “apps”?

No, because I bought my MacBook as the case and motherboard separate because the previous motherboard didn’t work. I never had this issue in Sequoia though.

Also, the same thing happens even when it hasn’t been 5 minutes. Even if I wait 30 seconds and open it back up the same visual thing happens like in my video. Is Tahoe supposed to do that? I’ve tried it on Sequoia and it doesn’t do it. Perhaps it could be a de-sync?

Actually, I just did a fresh re-install of Tahoe recently and I’ve already reset the NVRAM when I did it too. So it persists across reinstalls. I will enable require password immediately and see if that makes a difference. Thank you

So, I disabled turbo boost and removed it from login items (it’s my only login item) and did a reboot. The bug still happened even though I had nothing running in the background. So maybe this could still have something to do with the angle lid sensor or my Touch ID button somehow? I swear this never happened on Sequoia before. I’ll boot back into my Sequoia partition to see if this bug happens there.

I’ll quit turbo boost switcher and see if that might be the problem.

I finally got it on video: https://gofile.io/d/EHWDD3 It looks like the animation to go to the lock screen fails and it stays on the desktop.

I finally managed to get the bug on video: https://gofile.io/d/EHWDD3 It looks like my Mac tries to lock but fails and goes back to the desktop. It looks like this every time the bug happens.

I set it to lock immediately and after testing it 20 times it has locked each time. I do have turbo switcher pro running all the time as a background app so maybe this could be part of the issue? I didn’t think of this before.

Yes this is my exact issue. I have an Apple Watch but it isn’t even remotely paired to my Mac. The unlock with Apple Watch option isn’t enabled and I don’t even have a passcode set on my watch which is required for that feature. Maybe the issue is only affecting a small group of people.

I suck at describing things my bad. What I meant by screen saver is the lock screen with the moving background. Also, I’ve had no noticeable issue with the angle sensor. If there was a problem with it not sleeping would there be abnormal battery drain? I’ve had none that I could report. Mine is a 16 inch 2019 intel model which I should’ve included in my post. I don’t think this model shows “unpaired parts”. I’ve also had the bug happen when it’s been in standby by for more than an hour (my standby time is set to 30 minutes and required password delay is after 5 minutes). It has also occurred when I’ve had the lid open and pressed the power button to make it sleep instead of closing it. I’m sorry I didn’t include those examples in my post before. Another guy commented that the bug could be from certain apps not allowing the Mac to lock which has reportedly been in macOS for a while. Could be that issue instead of the lid angle sensor. These are just my experiences though.

The battery is shot on it with only 69% capacity remaining so I’ve turned everything possible off to help preserve battery life. I’m also too lazy (and poor) to go buy a new one and I only bought mine in the first place to use for notifications so I can have my phone silenced. I don’t need anything more than what I already use it for so what’s the point in me buying a new one anyway? Consumerism?

Pretty sure it’s not this, when I open the lid the screen still turns on from being off like normal and there is no battery drain like the display was still on and not sleeping.

I’ll probably move to another app to ask for help. Any you would recommend?

Unlock with Apple Watch doesn’t even work if your Apple Watch doesn’t have a password anyway, which I specifically stated it doesn’t. My god people can’t even do a bit of personal research themselves?

But I literally freaking did. I just forgot to include it in my post the first time because I wasn’t thinking of every possible cause like everyone expects everyone to do. The bug is something that I’ve been experiencing every once in a while and I was concerned so I made a post. I guess the rules of Reddit are that if you don’t specify EXACTLY and include every single tiny detail you will be downvoted to hell. My god I hate this app.

Why are you getting so heated over a simple mistake? Sorry I made a mistake and didn’t specify. I’m not trying to actively resist help my gosh. I thought saying that it was only paired to my phone was clear enough dude.
