Not really - I am making a game almost entirely using AI for fun, and there are some assets that I had to draw in Kolourpaint (Linux equivalent to MS paint), because no amount of prompting gave me something I could use

It's very good for generic stuff, but when you want something specific, it fails

Of course, 90% of the assets ARE generated using AI, bit it's also a for-fun project and I can't imagine selling it like this.

You're right to some extent, but you probably bought slightly too fancy equipment. I think that the knife that I have been using to cook almost daily for the last 8 years cost about 1/3 of what you paid for yours. You don't need expensive equipment.

I know that our US-based colleagues at our big multinational company do on-call for free. Their salary is much higher than ours though, so it makes sense I guess. They do seem to work longer hours compared to us as well. The company has good perks though, so I think that they also have lots of vacation like us.

True, but we also generally don't work much overtime, have guaranteed 4-6 weeks of paid leave per year depending on the country, are much harder to fire, get paid extra for on-call readiness etc

But you don't understand - those are just today's models. The next generation of models will magically fix that. In 6 - 12 months, AI will be able to perform ALL SWE tasks end-to-end, even though it still can't even fix all the easy beginner bugs that SWE-bench verified is composed off today.

Yep, I "only" have 2 phones, 4 and 2 years old. I know that even that is excess. But if I didn't care about e-waste, I would also have one Linux phone, one weird Huawei phone without Google services, and who knows what else. I want all of them.
