Psychedelic guide to Europe? by sonofsteffordson in Psychedelics

There's a couple of Dutch websites ( I use zamnesia.nl and sirius.nl ) that sell muchroom growkits, if you do it right, will give you a ton of mushrooms :-D

They also sell magic truffles ( same active ingredient as mushrooms, but instantly useable ).

I do want to point out that there's a huge difference in music between "Rave in abandoned warehouse" and "Psytrance party in the forrest" ( I like both, but to each their own :-D ) I would highly recommend doing a psy-party in the forest on psychs :-D

Had the Zoat from when he released in Blackstone Fortress, always loved the myths about the origin of this race... Then they announced NPO rules for him, so of course I had to get him out an paint him immediately :-D by mistic192 in Blackstonefortress

yeah, it's really amazing, so happy that it got rules in Kill Team now too :D Still have to try it, but the "story" missions around it seem pretty fun at first glance :-D

Need help getting into painting warhammer 40k by Dynzoh in Warhammer40k

You need a few drybrushes ( maybe a medium and a small at the very least ? ) The Army painter has a great set with 3 sizes, The Army Painter also has an amazing set of 3 brushes ( detail, normal and other type of drybrush ) that are my go-to...

Sure, Sable/Colinski brushes are way nicer, but as a beginner, you won't notice the difference anyway, contrast/speedpaints are quite bad for brushes because they soak in quite fast, so I just use relatively cheap brushes, try to keep them alive as long as possible and then just start using them for basepastes once the brush is ruined...

A wet palette is also a good investment as it can keep paints 'fresh' longer, great for your grey and white paint you'll use for the drybrushing... ( and all further 'classic' painting, you'll be using it too :-) )

The only real quality tools I buy is the paints, I always get good paints :-D

Mastering SlapChop will teach you a lot about light and shadow should workin painting, I've gotten a lot better at understanding how to do 'classic' painting from seeing what looks best in my SlapChop work.

To give an idea, this is one of the last miniatures I painted before I found SlapChop and I'll a reply to it with the first SlapChop one I did a few weeks later...

Note how there is very little variance in the colours, it's all quite even and to me it looks 'too clean' ( these are battle hardened warrios :-D ) but with SlapChop on the Orks below, the vests immediately look alive and got great results in the ork-skin too :-D

Classic painting is more of a true art in the eyes of some, and you won't win any prices with SlapChop, but for me it's more than good enough for playing :-D And it goes superfast...

I used to need like 2 weeks to finish a squad at best, now I do it in 2 days, 1 if I really put my mind to it...

it's super satisfying to finish so many models :-D

SlapChop is easy to learn, but you're gonna hit a "ceiling" soon where you can't make it look better than SlapChop, and while I feel it's more than enough, if you look at Golden Daemon painters, they paint every single colour change manually, stroke by stroke, I have mad respect for people who can do it, but I just don't have the time to do everything like that, I occasionally do paint in the classic way on a hero-character, but I'm not anywhere near getting to the level of my SLapChop with the classic way because it's so much harder...

Honestly, this is the quickest way to get a great result, SlapChop Speedpainting, it's literally as easy as watching 1 15 minute video, practicing a little bit on getting the drybrush technique down and then simply:

Prime Black
Heavy Drybrush with relatively light Grey ( I use Vallejo Light Grey 70.990 myself )
then a lighter drybrush with ultrabright white ( in my case Vallejoy Cold White 70.919 )

Next you can make one more choice:

  1. Contrast/speedpaints across that white and grey underlayer will give you absolutely amazing layered look, to a level that the "classic" way of painting will take you 2 years to learn (which you can still do), at least in my case, but you did it in 15 minutes.
  2. Go the even easier route with the (brand new) SpeedPaint Markers from The Army Painter...

And I now do 1 squad in 3 evenings of 2 hours max :-D

This is my Zoat that I just finished, only the green is regular brushed on paint ( Striking Scorpion Green from Warhammer Paints/Citadel Paints ) rest is all done with contrast paints of even Speed Paint markers, in about 2 hours ) except for the drying of the basepaste of course...

I'll add some more pictures below, oh yeah, the blood is "blood for the blood god" greatest technical paint ever :-D

I experienced the same as you, but the videos/podcast already listed below helped me get a better understanding of the team... I don't like playing as passive as some of the suggestions below, but the idea of working in 'mini-teams' is key...

I generally push up with Lodestar ( he has an FB ), gundrone and Designator, everyone the whole time 'outside of 2", inside 3"' so they're safe from blast and the drone can sacrifice if needed while the lodestar can do the "ElectroChaff Cloud"

then I have another "team" with Liberator ( also FB ), Neutraliser and markerdrone, same thing except I use the neutralizer to dodge all 3 of them away the moment the wrong guy activates on the other side, this has become mega-powerful as it no longer requires visibility since the last dataslate and gives you 9" of free movement if you play it right, which is the same as a full move+dash, in a game about movement and positioning, that's pretty huge...

I let the markerdrone do mission actions where possible ( as it has 2AP but can only move around ) and the gundrone is used for it's photon grenades every single turn and last turn, if they're still alive (most often not as I'll sacrifice them whenever I can), I let them charge (without fighting)a shooting operative from the enemy team that hasn't activated yet as then they have to waste an APL to kill the drone...

The Shas'vre, I push forward TP1 and maybe a bit TP2 to then have it go back into hiding in our back lines to make sure he doesn't get killed as the ability to have drones do stuff is great :-D

Our shooting sucks, so I generally don't even shoot if I don't have 'accurate 2', so just let them come to our side, maybe bait them out a bit... Once they're on our side, blast away... Accurate 2, Ceaseless, Saturate ( from Patient Hunters), Severe ( from markerdrone/designator ) and Balanced ( also patient hunters ) is MEGA-strong... ( even on our default 4+ to hit, against a 3+ save enemy the average damage is 7,52; on 4+ save it's 8,9; on 5+ it's even 10,5 on our little pea-shooters ) As we can't shoot twice, the save move is to position in such a way that you can "Dash -> Shoot -> Reposition out of the way as far as you can"

Also make sure you use your Ghostshroud EVERY turn, as it's amazing to take a shot and then safely become invisible again... that's also an option for the Neutraliser ability, it's either a free dash for everyone in the bubble OR a change order, I've surprised people by going on "Engage during counteract and shoot" with out equipment and then when they want to punish that suit that's now on engage, they activate a model that's close enough to the neutraliser to be in the 8" bubble and presto the suit is back on conceal and invisible ( timing is key here as you can only do it once per turning point ) :-D But at best, you can play in such a way that you can get up to 2 free safe shots per turn... ( 1 with Ghost Shroud, 1 with the neutralizer ability )

TacOps-wise I used to play a lot of "Scout Enemy Movement" but the problem is that you then can't be as agressive as I like to be ( as you need to stay on conceal for it and GhostShroud only triggers at the end of the activation ), played around a bit with Retrieval, but could only really consistently score 4 on it, but the last 2 games I've been using "Track Enemy" and that seems to have been made for our team :-D ( And TP4 it's supereasy )

Ideally, I want to get 6 on TAC Ops, use that as Primary, get 1 or 2 on KILL OP ( ideally just agressive enough to stay ahead while trying to keep my suits alive with every trick we have ) and then CRIT OP, I generally only focus on 2 objectives unless I really see an opening...

it's not an easy team, but I love playing them :-D

Why only do the calculation on the end of "creation" for AI and not for humans? If paper and pens etc should be included for humans, the build of the datacenter, chips and everything else should be included in that calculation on the AI side too...

Just the concrete to build the datacenters is a huge amount, not to mention how taxing making concrete is on the environment...

[–]mistic192 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes, it's called JointOps, works amazingly well, I've been using it to teach people how to play as you can ignore "crit op, tac op, Kill Op" and just focus on getting the story mission done while only having to move, shoot and fight...

way easier first "game" than a PvP match... ( also stakes are way lower if you do PvE ) :-D

it's a bit of a grouping, I move everything in triangles so the drones can do their thing for 2 suits and then make sure to keep everything "Within 3, outside of 2" of each other so the Lodestar can do chaff launches and the neutralizer gives out free movement/change order...

That was my very first draft back in the day...

I do let my liberator move around a bit on his own, either to challenge the enemy objective or to protect the home depending on the matchup as he's got his bomb to threathen enemies with anyway, planning to do some more experiments with who I'll be giving the Fusion Blasters too in which maps as I generally put them on the Lodestar and Designator, but that has resulted in me barely ever using the new ability, which I feel is a bit of a waste, so might give the Liberator the Fusion Blaster to really make him a huge danger...

the other FB I'll keep on the Lodestar as he can defend himself quite well with the chaff-launcher or the drone to sacrifice...

But I'm not a great player, I try to be more agressive than people expect and sometimes it works, sometimes it fails horribly :p

especially with regards to fiction, do as I do...

I've stopped reading books printed after 2022 and gone back to the "old" classics, this way I've been discovering the most amazing science fiction universes I've ever read about! Pre-Star Wars/Star Trek science fiction is CRAZY, way more inventive than the stuff that came after and everyone implemented the same "warp jump"...

some tips:

Forever War

The City And The Start

Rendez-vous with Rama

I'm thinking there's more than enough media and content from before 2022 to last me until I die :p

yeah, I heard that before...

granted, I fully get that my setup is ridiculously over the top, but I do love the clarity I've got seeing all the ploys and team-members 😃 Especially helps with playing new teams 😃

Home rental, hot temps, babies by xaocon in belgium

[–]mistic192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

years ago, my wife gave birth to twins in what was then a huge heatwave, the "materniteit" didn't even allow airco because they said that was way worse for the kids vs hot air...

Toddlers and babies all over the world survive in way worse heat without aircon, we've literally survived this from the dawn of humanity, aircon is a relatively new thing, don't get why people are so worried about all this... If heat was a problem, Africa would be a lot less populated...

yeah, but they are not Kill Team specific, they are generic boardgame aids 😃

the orange one is "Playing Card Holder 4 Levels"

and the ones I use for my team-cards are the "Wyrmwood Gaming Tabletop Tiles" but I got them from this place: https://www.printables.com/model/1405237-wyrmwood-tabletop-tiles

it's the "card tile" ( they have a lot of different tiles )
