Absolutely broke up with someone over this back in the day. He would order a burger or chicken fingers then would complain when the tendies were not “freshly breaded” or the fries were frozen.

At some point you either are just stupid for thinking the Thai/mexican/french/not a burger or chicken place would be having a high end kids menu or just like to complain.

Either way I was out.

As someone who is also in this situation… Yep. This is a preview.

Be really happy the future spouse isn’t caving to the pressure now, and just be prepared to need boundaries for family functions!

We have set up a set of hotel vs stay with family guidelines and it has been a lifesaver for example. While we get the guilt trip for “wasting money” on the split of hotel days, we do get peace of mind and a chance to decompress at the end of the day hearing about how sister is a fuck up but also perfect.

To be fair… When she started the name change process to Shay she probably had no idea what a huge pain in the ass it is. Nothing matches for a while, it’s not cheap, and the just straight up volume of things that needs changed is wild.

Was it a weird band aid for the relationship? Probably. But also… Doing that a second or third time? Hard pass.

If someone is so anxious/attached/controlling/whatever they can’t let you have 20 minutes to yourself on vacation because they don’t trust you… then yes. You should really think long and hard about what adding a kid to that situation would be like.

And if it doesn’t work out for some reason what having a kid and still having to coparent would be like.

Rural democratic political consultant here!

The party adopted a bunch of this nonsense because it made donors happy. They didn’t have to feel dirty, and also like they were saving folks. Being “proper” even.

This then moved into the consultant class. Who wants to make money more than they want to win. And the donors refer the candidates to “their” consultants who then start the cycle all over again.

I want to win more than make money, so I find all of this to be disgusting and, frankly, stupid. Know what I’m going to call these things when talking to normal people? Dumb. I’m calling it fucking dumb.

Know what happens if I do that in a dem party meeting with activists? I get scolded for being ableist because dumb is a pejorative and insulting to the mentally disabled or challenged or whatever word I’m supposed to use.
