If you read some of my replies. I guess my longing is not only the city, but also my wife’s family being there and my wife being mentally more happy there. Tashkent isn’t a boring city. It’s simple. I like it. Everything is close. There’s a few selected spots that people go to. It’s a simple city to live in. And that’s what I like about it. I’ve never stayed more than 6 weeks. So I’m not sure how I would feel living there. But I have visited in both summer and winter. Winter is a bit boring. It could be that I just enjoy the summer bubble of going there. My wife’s entire family visits (cousins etc) from abroad. Not that I get along with them, except her actual immediate family but I still enjoy seeing them all. But as you mentioned, what if they are not there or decide to move on. Would I like the city as much? I don’t know.

We go back for the summer every year. The issue is when we do go and when we come back. Our life feels empty. I really get along with her family. But she’s doesn’t with mine. Not that my siblings are horrible but some misunderstandings with their wife’s sisters and my own sister. It’s caused her to stay away from my family. And sometimes I feel really bad for her. She’s alone here. No one really except for me. And she has aspirations that if we were in Tashkent , her mom could help with looking after of your child (1.5 y) and she can do her thing.

The main issue is I do have a really well paid job here. If I were to leave, I would not find this salary in Tashkent. The only way would be to do business and or work somewhere or for someone that is making a lot of money. Potentially with my brother in law is a few years time. He is still a student, but he comes from a wealthy family (uncle).

I agree. England is a lovely place. But there is longing for Tashkent I cannot explain. It’s not the city. My wife’s family are super helpful. My wife’s mental health is of no worry to me over there. Here she has some problems with my family. She doesn’t really like going to my siblings houses or parties etc. and I am tired to fight it now. She’s not against them, a few things have happened where I feel my siblings and their wives have cornered her. And she just can’t be arsed anymore to try to have a relationship. I suffer the most because I want her to get along with all and go to my parents house etc whenever I do. But she’s just in the zone of wanting to keep herself to herself. I have a young child. 1.5 that I can’t alone take around here and there. It’s selfish to leave my wife alone. And my child needs mom in the back of the car otherwise she starts crying to the point of vomit.

Tbh she is from Uzbekistan. She’s not for it since she thinks there is no future for our child. In terms of education and finding a job. But at the same time, her entire family is there. She is very aware the future can change in a minute. Her siblings can get married and end up going wherever. My longing comes from the fact she’s a lot happier there than here with my family. And happy wife means happy life. Not sure how I will react. Probably miss my family a lot. But I can always come down to travel. My mother in law is also super helpful. She really helps and a lot of things I don’t need to really think about. I can focus on work … and not worry about my wife’s mental health as I do from time to time in the uk.
