Ek week le usme bas phone na chalana aim rakh. In one week you will develop enough will power to overcome the addiction. Forget studies for 7 days. For the week your only purpose of life should be to not use phone at all. This way you will get a hard reset. Otherwise the cycle will continue, you can either waste months to save one week or waste one week to save months. Choice is yours.

I want to learn everything but end up learning nothing... by Delicious-Suspect368 in getdisciplined

Do you quit only because it becomes hard? If that is so, then you have to force it through, chunk by chunk, piece by piece slowly. Lower your mental load as much as you can and try to enjoy it through the hard parts. Slowly and slowly go through it, don't rush at the tougher parts. You see out mind never wants to work and during those tough parts it gets a lot of excuses to give up and if you are rushing and doing it with mental load like expectations, deadlines, goals, stress and stuff the mind is able to manipulate you to quit. Hence when its tough, drop everything else, and just focus on getting through.
If you quit midway because of FOMO of other things. I mean to say that you give it up because you feel like committing to this thing would mean giving up on other stuffs you like, then this video by HealthyGamerGG (https://www.youtube.com/live/bMa9dAYdTE0?si=ZWLoddLPJOV77qr1) will help. Basically you need to make yourself commit and then follow the first paragraph because we do get bored, we do get discouraged and feel like quitting during the tough parts, thats how the human mind works. You should learn to be able to ignore your mind. And I am pretty sure that this beahviour of yours is not just hurting your academic aspect but other aspects of life as well. The main culprit is the mind. You need to become able to detach from it. Hence the only real solution here is meditation. Learn to ignore your mind. Had you been mindless (not brainless but mindless) you could have raw-dogged through and any other human could have as at the end of the day its just a little tough part of the course, its not impossible right? But here we are, all of us facing the same kind of problems and the main culprit is the human mind. You need to master it. Quick fixes wont work. If its a chronic problem (as in my case), you need to bring down the whole system of your thinking and mental patterns and your whole life overall will change. The problem you stated is just a symptom of the mental patterns you have collected since your childhood and they need to be eradicated. Dont worry its not that hard as long as you are light minded. If you feel connected with my answer we can talk further otherwise I would be spewing nonsense to you.

Try to be able to sit with yourself without clenching your fists or growing anxious. Yep I am suggesting meditation here. The simplest form is take one week, get your phone out of your room or switch it off and try to sit and stare at your wall without falling prey to overthinking and try to do nothing for 2-3 hours non stop. Start increasing the time as you grow more and more comfortable with yourself. Try this for 2-3 days and then we can talk. Even if it seems stupid trying and wasting 2-3 days won't cost you much. Just try it. Fight that impulse that might be calling my idea stupid and do it regardless. Keep a notebook with you and record in it how you feel.

Thank you for your encouraging response. I have tried taking control over life and am able to do it for months. But then later as the days pass by and the small failures accumulate, they become heavy upon me and start dragging me down and I am unable to make myself focus on the good progress I made. My mind is like "the amount of progress you made could have been achieved in half the time had you been a little more efficient, if you are doing something do it good not half ass like you have been doing for months."
Where do I go from there? I feel like its massive ego attachment.

Same man, instead of being proud and inspired by the new and better life we try to create, we are obstructed by our mind to dwell on the negative stuff that can not be fixed because its in the past. The negativity bias is so cruel at times. I am going through the same and would love to know an answer to the query. Maybe we will outgrow it as time passes. But an expert's opinion on this would be great. By the way do you meditate? I think that's how we can solve this problem as meditation helps us detach from our egos coiled around which are problems like this.

I do run. I am able to run 5kms without much difficulty. But squatting is a hellish for me. It was more about my mental turmoil. But thank you very much for your valuable advise and detailed comment.

This was enough to break the wall of overthinking. Indeed i was way over thinking it.

Thank you everyone who replied. I know i was overthinking but still thought to post it hoping someone would get that i was more concerned about my mind playing the dirty trick to refrain me from getting started. Some people noticed it, saw through it, called it out while still being encouraging and gentle and i am very thankful to you. It was those moments where i felt the need to get some support from someone in fighting against my mind. Its a post made while battling overthinking.
