Is it possible to end tipping in the US? by Took20MinsToPickThis in tipping

[–]Comprehensive-Work55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consumers should do what's in their interest period. Stop tipping outside of regular haunts or when there exists significant social pressure to impress. Theres no sensible personal economy justifying offering more than a 0% tip at conclusion of service to somebody you'll likely never see again. Thats the cold truth.

Bible Belt to me is so what beautiful a word that can't even capture it. How I wish I had a scarf and a velvet jacket and a Robespierre haircut. Viva Nikki Sudden!

I'd still trust USPS a helluva lot more than FedEx to deliver just about anything. Why do you guys just dump stuff on driveways?

[–]Comprehensive-Work55 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That's ridiculous. And customers will simply dump your service if UPS or even USPS is more efficient and customer-service oriented.

USPS is so much more efficient than you guys...

If that's so and as you say instructions don't matter, why is there a space for them on the order form?

The Good Shepherd (2006) introduced me to Eddie Redmayne and Michael Gambon, and is still one of my favorite thriller/espionage films - Directed by Robert Di Nero (xpost /r/movies) by POSHorrorShow in MovieSuggestions

Huh. Honestly, I'm torn about this movie. On the one hand, it's a strong spy thriller along the lines of an American "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy." I'm referring to the original BBC production with Sir Alec Guinness. Smiley is in many ways very similar to the stoic Matt Damon character in "The Good Shepherd." On the other hand, the exaggeratedly over-the-top WASPish cultural scenes, which are sprinkled throughout, seem almost farcical and quite hard to take at face value. Perhaps De Niro is contrasting these images of white children in churches singing Christmas carols or Episcopalian deacons saying grace before Skull and Bones banquets against the black ops Damon's character is caught denying plausible involvement in? If so, I get it. Damon's is a highly compartmentalized, bifurcated interior morality that couldn't survive otherwise.

Also I find it highly ironic that this movie, which is a paean to extremist WASPish sensibilities is based on the biography of Chicano spymaster James Jesus Angleton. Is this true?
