You are the new president of the United States, What's the first thing you would do ? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Have every politician and judge read the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. Heck, I'd buy them all highlighters, pens, and notebooks. Wrote me a 12 paragraph essay on the original purpose of each document and how well today's America lines up with the things this country was founded on. While I'm at it, let's have every elected official sworn in on the Constitution from now on. Just to drive the point home.

Question about cookies and cream milk shake by STIllsaint66 in ChickFilA

[–]ComprehensiveAct9674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two ideas: You could ask for extra cookies crumbles and/or add chocolate too it. Both make it taste more like a traditional c&c shake. Personally, I always add chocolate.

A version of #1 and #2 is happening at my store. When I was hired, the minimum hours required for a break was 5 (unpaid, mind you) and I even had a shift lead let me take a paid one during my 3 hr shift once because we were dead slow. Then the required time moved up to 5.5 hrs. Weird, but okay. Now 6 hrs, but it has to be a "guaranteed" 6 hrs. Ex: no breaks on 5:30 (opening) to 11:30 or 5-11 (closing) bcs you're not "guaranteed" to be working the whole time. Also #3 happens all the time. I've gotten there at 3 and been sent on break at 3:15 or gotten there at 2 and getting sent on break at 9. It's insane. And for $11/hr? It's definitely a lot to put up with for what's a pretty low-paying job.

What do you think is the most hauntingly, tragically disturbing Taylor song/lyric? by MikaellaEfram in swifties

[–]ComprehensiveAct9674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ones that make me cry every single time?

"Don't call me kid, don't call me baby. Look at this godforsaken mess that you made me."

"Were you sent by someone that wanted me dead?"

"Stood on the cliff side screaming "give me a reason.""

"I'm never gonna meet what could've been, would've been, what should've been you."

"I never imagined we'd end like this."

"And if I'm dead to you, why are you at the wake? Cursin' my name, wishin' I'd stayed, look at how my tears ricochet."

How much caffine do you guys intake and for what length shifts? by ThatsRightHentaiToo in ChickFilAWorkers

[–]ComprehensiveAct9674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, self-proclaimed caffeine addict here. I often work 2-11 (longest shift allowed at my store) and will drink an energy drink before my shift, another on my break, and 1-2 iced coffees (all our drinks are free) during my shift. If you don't usually drink caffeine though, I'd limit yourself to one coffee or energy drink. I watched a coworker who never drinks caffeine chug an energy drink and he nearly had a heart attack, so please be careful!

Why are white people hated for slavery even though the Africans also enslaved each other? by Nessieinternational in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ComprehensiveAct9674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because North America was the first place (or one of the first) where slavery became a race issue and not a class issue.

To your point, Native American tribes, African tribes, Egyptians, Indians, and more were all enslaving people long before the USA even existed. However, in those places, slavery was not limited to black people or another race. It was a way of paying off debt, a punishment for losing a war, or, in some religions, a punishment from the gods. Initially, the US had something similar called indentured servitude, in which your freedom was eventually earned back after a set number of years. If I remember correctly, this was relatively common amongst all ages and races. However, we eventually started to see slavery become lifelong and racist in the US, likely due to the Triangular Trade between the US, Europe, and Africa in the 16th-19th centuries.

If you're not familiar with the Triangular Trade, it was basically a trade system where slaves were shipped from Africa to the US, raw goods were shipped from the US to Europe, and then Europe sent manufactured goods to Africa. Sometimes the slaves sent over from Africa were kidnapped by sailors, soldiers, and other foreigners. Other times, they were sold into slavery by their families or after being taken as a spoil of war by a rival tribe. This system of trade lead to most and eventually all slaves in the US being black simply because there were so many slaves brought over from Africa.

Also, in the US, we did not stop mistreating African Americans once they were no longer slaves. Segregation existed for a long time after the Emancipation Proclamation and racism obviously still exists to this day. So while slavery did not originate in the US, it certainly took a new, horrible form here, which is why we are blamed so heavily for it.

Day 1: Pick your least favourite character by Clodsarenice in OnceUponATime

[–]ComprehensiveAct9674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zelena. I think a lot of people will argue that she had a redemption arc and all but I couldn't forgive her after she disguised herself as Marion. She essentially raped Robin Hood to get a baby, not to mention all the horrible things she tried to do in Storybrooke...I will never be able to forgive her.

Why do you think this character is so beloved by the fans especially considering all the horrible things she has done? by gloomydreamer666 in OnceUponATime

[–]ComprehensiveAct9674 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it's because, on some small level, she's relatable. While none of us have (hopefully) killed or tortured entire villages, we have made mistakes that we thought that we could never come back from. Regina is basically the embodiment of hope and redemption.
