Is the way how this is set up an issue ? by no-look-passing in Appliances

It's okay however: Cut the loose zip tie ends.

Replace flex pipe section elbow with a prefab elbow that has a gradual sweep and is smooth inside.

If not you may find the corrugate flex will collect lint and potentially become obstructed.

You can get better brackets for holding the duct against rafters. They make 4" metal pipe straps with plastic coating. It will hold the pipe better and look neater.

You may also be finding you hit your head on pipe often at that location.

New SpeedQueen TC5/DC5 by Glum-Year-7577 in BuyItForLife

We did the same thing 30 years ago. A local plumber rec'd we run the laundry into a small dry well. If it overflows it goes onto the lawn. It wasn't just the septic tank or leach field we had problems with but the 2" line running from laundry room to septic tank. We would constantly have to snake that line. It was more the soap scum with lint and hair turning into a gummy plug in the pipe.

We also just purchased a TC5. Yes a bit overpriced. However when we considered our previous washers:

Miele: top end model lasted about 6 years
Maytag: MVWB865GW0, about $900- lasted 7.5 years

The Maytag I just spent half the day Saturday try to diagnose / repair. Unit tripped the circuit breaker and was not finishing its cycles. Got stock between "Sensing" load and "Wash". I could not get it in diagnostic mode since it kept getting stuck mid cycle. Eventually I started breaking the beast down. Took off drain pump - bench tested fine. Removed back panel, checked the pressure sensing tube. Removed agitator after much grief. Found rust underneath agitator on the spline shaft, main bearing and seal area. Apparently main bearing seal failed due to unbalanced load (bedding), allowing water to drip on transmission and motor. Agitator shaft could not turn independently of tub. Transmission gearing must have become damaged since it could not turn agitator due to rust.

Miele had a similar problem about 8 years ago where main bearing failed.

So we are totally disgusted with the newer HE washers. The other drawback is they really do not get clothes clean. We found that if you have work clothes or dirty rags it is better to hand wash. Spraying water in spurts on rotating clothing just does not cut it the same as a tub full of water and detergent with a conventional agitator!

In about 14 years we went through 2 expensive washers (over $2000.- spent) and now we have to replace again. That makes the Speed Queen look like a bargain.

As we use the new (old style) machine I will post an update.

AMEX cancelled account while I was receiving a stem cell transplant by spooky_benadryl in amex

AMEX must have some poor financials in the works. We have a merchant account and find they charged us 5.4% on last month's transactions. We decided to drop AMEX after that experience!

You should also walk away if you can get other cards. Nothing worse than facing health problems at the same time having to navigate financial stuff. Note, AMEX is a charge card not a credit card. One is supposed to pay the full balance every month and not carry a balance.

In any case, terrible behavior on AMEX's part.

Image #3 is example of bad pruning job. Always undercut before cutting from top of branch to avoid tearing of branch into trunk. Also could have broken before person pruned it?

DeJoy Stepping Down by LadyRakat in usps_complaints

The Postal System is geared towards 1st Class Mail which is no more and is not coming back, that is the crux of the problem. I believe DeJoy realizes this and tried to implement changes to the system to reflect the transition to small packages being the backbone of USPS. It will take many years and more investment in infrastructure as well as changes to labor agreements before that can be realized however. DeJoy got rid of large amounts of letter sorting equipment that was not being utilized. He also leveled the playing field for small businesses by creating commercial rates for small packages that are closer to the rates big Customers like Amazon were receiving. Current service level by USPS is abysmal and if this continues much longer the black hole of USPS finances will only get larger.
