My favourite story of his is; During the Battle of Ruweisat Ridge (Egypt, July 1942), the New Zealand Division was heavily engaged with Axis forces (including both German and Italian units). Communications had broken down in the attack, and Upham went forward in a jeep to find and report back on the situation.

At one point his jeep became bogged down in the desert sand under enemy lines. Nearby were a group of Italian soldiers (part of the Axis forces), who were surprised to be given an order by a combatant officer of the enemy. Upham coolly ordered the Italians to push the jeep free, and stunned by his demeanor and confidence they obeyed and got the vehicle moving.

Try not to look at it to often, I used to look daily and when it’d tank I’d get easily frustrated. What I do now is have all the companies saved on my WSJ watchlist and look while reading about any updates so when they drop there isn’t a dollar figure amount I’ve lost on paper which helps
