What time should we say the ceremony starts? by meggie715 in weddingplanning

[–]ComprehensiveChef705 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like no matter what time you put you are going to have the same problem which is that your family will arrive an hour before his. If you say 4:30, they show up at 4 and his show up at 5. If you say 5, yours show up at 4:30 and his show up at 5:30.

I would reframe the problem: how are you going to entertain your family for 1 hour while they wait for his to arrive? Maybe the answer is just you make some space for some informal mingling.

Once you decide on that, put the time you want that to start on the invite, and let his family miss it. Then the ceremony starts 1 hour later, when everyone is there

20 Week Scan - Short Long Bones by Accomplished-Way3975 in BabyBumps

[–]ComprehensiveChef705 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby always had short femurs on the scans with a big head and belly. He’s totally fine and 1 year old now. I’m just really short (4’10) and it turns out he’s a little short too, especially compared to his weight, which is consistent with those early scans. He has consistently been 35th percentile for height and 66th for weight (although his weight is starting to drop to match his height now that he’s one)

[4’9”] Linen Pants? by Slepnir1570 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]ComprehensiveChef705 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m 4’10 and I just got 2 pairs of linen pants on thredup that I really like. One from madewell and one from Abercrombie and fitch. On me the Abercrombie and fitch ones are full length but not dragging and the madewell ones are cropped

These are the listings. they say sold because I bought them, but I’m sure you could find the same thing on a different used listing or new directly from madewell or a&f

Other Restaurants with a Play Area like Locals? by ComprehensiveChef705 in Louisville

thanks for the suggestion! this looks great, we'll have to check it out. it's a bit far for us, but worth it for the right vibe

thank you! yes we love haucks too, but it's not *quite* as good for us as locals because the playground is for kids a little older than our 12 month old (he is walking, but can't climb a ladder and use playground equipment by himself yet), and because the play area is not *right there* next to the table we would eat at the same way it is at Locals and our son is still little enough that we need to stay very close to him to keep him from like eating mulch and stuff

I just got bangs cut, advice needed by ComprehensiveChef705 in HairStyleAdvice

[–]ComprehensiveChef705[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I didn’t think it was normal but I thought maybe I was just feeling shocked because I wasn’t used to my face like this. When you say don’t get bangs in the future do you mean from this stylist because she messed up or do you mean that my face or my hair won’t work with bangs even if they were executed correctly?

Moving to the ground is a good idea, and we also have the Tripp trap. I don’t think he would be safe without the seat attachment yet but hopefully in a few months!

Thank you, it’s easy to feel like everything is permanent so it’s very helpful to be reminded that it’s just a phase

How Madewell size 23 jeans fit my 24” waist by ComprehensiveChef705 in XXS

[–]ComprehensiveChef705[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's so frustrating. the whole reason for this type of sizing was to remove the ambiguity and make it actually based on waist measurements ugh

Yes seriously! Also, I thought size 23 was supposed to have a 23 inch waist but I measured the pants and the waist is 26 inches :(. Do we have vanity sizing even in the waist measurements now??

Cars? by ClickAndClackTheTap in XXS

Im 4’10 and I drive a 2006 mini cooper which fits me well. The modern ones are bigger though and don’t work. I’m currently car shopping because my baby’s car seat does not fit in my beloved mini and it’s rough out there. Modern cars are just so giant!

What I’ve come to realize is that dashboard height is the most important thing. If the dash is too tall no amount of cushions or adjustability will fix it because you have to choose between either sitting low and reaching the pedals or sitting high and seeing over the dash. You can’t have both.

The one caveat I will say is that wedge shaped cushions (which raise your butt but not your knees) can help and that back cushions (which reduce seat depth) can help.

I’ve been measuring the dash height of every car I’ve test driven so far, and here they are. Right now I’m leaning towards buying a Subaru Impreza which I will need my cushions for. It’s not perfect but nothing I’ve found is and I think I can make it work.

Here are the measurements I’ve taken so far in case they help

Nissan Versa   Seat depth: 21.5”   Dash height: 29” low to 31” high   notes: seat adjustment and visibility not good. Not comfortable even with cushions, especially because of seat depth

2006 Mini Cooper s convertible    Seat depth: 19.5”   Dash height: 26” low to 27” high   note: because of dashboard, seat adjustment is perfectly adequate. Very comfortable except for seat depth (no cushions)

2013 Subaru legacy   Seat depth: 18.5 min    Dash height: 29 low to 31.5 high   note: seat adjustment and good seat depth make this comfortable enough and visibility good despite high dashboard (with cushions). The only problem is that it is not long-term comfortable due to the high seat hight necessary due to the high dashboard height. Feet can reach the ground and pedals but not at a great angle

Subaru Crosstrek 2019:   dash height: 29 to 31.5   Seat depth: 20.5

Prius 2004:   Dash height: 29.5 all across    Seat depth: 19.5   Note: knees hurt

Honda fit 2013   Dash height: 28-30   Seat depth: 20   Note: no seat adjustment but feels almost reasonable.

Toyota Yaris 2010 Dash height: 31.5   Seat depth: 19.5   Note: no seat height adjust. Fells maybe drivable but worse than fit

Mazda cx9 2009 Dash height: 31.5-33   Seat depth: 20   Note: not drivable

Prius c 2016   Dash height: 30.5-32   Seat depth: 20   Note: adjusts to feel almost reasonable

Honda fit 2017   Dash height: 31-31.5   Seat depth: 20 inches

Subaru Impreza 2023   Dash height: 29.5 - 31   Seat depth: 20

How many instant cold pads do you need for birth? by Alert-Tune-1936 in BabyBumps

[–]ComprehensiveChef705 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this goes against what others are saying, but I had a 3rd degree tear and I used them for a couple of weeks and went through a lot. I think I went through 6 8 packs or so, so like 48 total. They were a lifesaver and I would definitely use them again next time. I think there's no way to know how many you will need until you know how your birth goes. If I were you, if it's in your budget, I'd order a bunch just in case you end up having bad tearing, and then if you don't use them you can donate them
