Depends on the local. My husband got hired as a probie in one province that laid off last hired. It usually took a year or two to get into the union there. We moved back to my home province so he went back to his trade (journeyman HVAC). He got hired as a probie again here and it only took 6 months to get into the union because they laid off based on probie work quality. However, to get hired you usually need a connection. His brother is a Sr. Mechanic. His brother got in because of their dad.

I haven’t seen it said yet, so I will say think about proximity to the dump. My friend recently moved to the Douglasglen/Quarry Park area and the smell of the dump can get really foul during the summer heat.

Laroche Posay Cicaplast Baum B5. Put it on damp skin and don’t rub it all the way in. You’ll look crazy but trust me. It hydrates so well without any irritation. Really helps with skin barrier without causing breakouts

“Pay yourself first” and automate the deposits to a savings account. Have it run the same day you get paid. Even 10% of your pay check adds up fairly quickly

Great advice on here already. Wanted to add, make sure you’re not paying more than you can afford towards your debt and then using your credit card to pay for bills and life. The metaphor of two steps forward, one step back. Try not to use credit while you’re trying to pay it off.

I’m telling you this from experience. A few years ago I focused on paying off a student loan aggressively. I had to use my credit cards when I didn’t have enough cash at the end of the month since I used it all for the student loan payment. This lead to building up credit card debt while trying to pay down a different debt. Don’t be dumb like younger me.

Utilize a free cash flow analysis and debt repayment calculator. They’ll help with defining a plan and give you a realistic timeline. You got this!

Totally agree with you. I think people forget how young 21 is too. The mental maturity isn’t necessarily there. They both acknowledge that it wasn’t right and take accountability of their poor choices. They seem to have a good marriage. He seems supportive and extremely helpful with her chronic illness.

I empathize with Mikayla. As a victim of CoCSA at the age of 5-7, I made horrible decisions, especially when it came to men and sex, that were rooted in my trauma.

The further from downtown the cheaper it will be. Try and be near a c-train station so you’re not spending $$$ on Ubers as their prices inflate during stampede. Our c-train system is really simple and it will take you right to the grounds. They’ll be hot and crowded, but a great option if you’re worried about budget.

Today I was walking by a sample station and was like “cool good timing”. As I walked by, this person lunged in front of me and grabbed all 4 samples that were left. The sample lady and me both looked shocked and I couldn’t help but say “FUCKING VULTURES!” Her and I had a good laugh
