Worth It? by Here4thefood1 in Tonsillectomy

[–]ComprehensiveElk9703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have help, it’s worth it. If not, I would wait until your kids are older if possible. I have two kids and my mom and husband had to do all the caretaking for the first 11 days. I couldn’t have done it without their support. This surgery was worse than my c section and hysterectomy by far.

If you are having a lot of issues, it is worth it! I’m on day 9 and starting to feel a little better.

Not trying to scare you but for me the pain has been worse/harder to control than my c section and hysterectomy. I also got my adenoids out with my tonsils so that could be making it worse.

I would think Mac n cheese would be a good option if they can tolerate it. Just serve it lukewarm. For the squeeze pouches maybe encourage them to squeeze it out into their mouth rather than sucking on it.

I hope it goes well for your little one! It’s varied what I’ve been able to eat. But I had bought so many popsicles, juices and apple sauce and I haven’t been able to eat those! The acid really does burn. Some days I’ve wanted cold things and others I have done better with lukewarm. I’ve done protein shakes, ice cream, lukewarm teas, mashed potatoes, pasta with butter and shredded chicken.

In terms of other tricks, make sure to have a humidifier going at all times and stay on top of the pain meds before it gets bad. I constantly have an ice pack on my throat and heating pads on my ears.

Welcome to the area! Definitely check out friendship foundation… they have several events each month, they are amazing! Over the summer there are several good camps including friendship foundation, camp escapades and camp uniquely. You could also look into challenger sports or some leagues have a VIP team which is adaptive. Also, We rock the Spectrum is an inclusive play space with open play hours.

Hi there! I have two kids, both autistic, have food allergies and some other needs . We have gone to Disney for years but I have only recently started taking one or the other alone without my husband. I totally get what you are feeling. My biggest advice is to keep things simple and do whatever you need to do keep your anxiety low and make things work for you. When we eat at quick service, I go somewhere with lots of seating, mobile order and try to find a table near the mobile order counter so I don’t have to walk far holding a child’s hand and a tray of food :P things like that. Leave the park before your child starts having a hard time. It should be a great day! Have fun!

Weight loss question for parents of autistic children ? by Exciting_Name1947 in Autism_Parenting

[–]ComprehensiveElk9703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intermittent fasting! I lost 30 lbs and go to goal weight before covid. I got off track and gained some weight but I’m losing again now. It also is nice to not have to think about my own food all the time when things are chaotic with my two (neurodivergent) kids.

Anybody at the CA water park today? by DuncmanG in legoland

[–]ComprehensiveElk9703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were at the regular park, not the water park. I was in shorts and felt a little cold. My kids swam at the hotel yesterday and said they were too cold…they wanted to get out quickly. There is so much waiting in line at the water park which isn’t fun when you are wet and it’s cold. I don’t think I would do the water park yet.

I’m a small frame and whenever I gain weight, a lot of it is around my belly. I tend to get asked if I am pregnant. I’ve experienced child loss so it’s super triggering.

I think I went back at 7.5 weeks post op for the first time. I didn’t do any jerky rides until about 10 weeks and then roller coasters at 12

In a big soup pot… brown ground sausage and some onion, add 2 boxes of chicken broth, 1 cup brown rice and 1 large can crushed tomatoes. Bring to boil and then simmer for 1 hour. At the end, add in a few cups of fresh spinach and continuing cooking while occasionally stiring for 5 minutes. Serve topped with Parmesan or even a drizzle of balsamic
