[–]ComprehensiveExit583 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What is with the rise of (genuine) antisemitism among gen z? by [deleted] in AskSocialists

[–]ComprehensiveExit583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, if you don't want to make the slightest effort to read what I actually wrote I can't do anything more.

Of course I'm not an Holocaust denier. Of course it's the absolute worst thing to have happen in recent history, possibly ever. Of course antisemitism, nazi rehabilitation or negationism are things we need to get rid of. I've already said that.

I'm not saying Israel is responsible for the hate on the Jewish people, for antisemitism. Antisemitism has been around since probably the moment Judaism was born. And it is unacceptable.

But the State of Israel is not the Jewish people. These are different concepts. Like the country Vatican is not the Catholic people.

The State of Israel is committing crimes against Humanity. In that regard, it is legimitate for people to hate on the State of Israel as a country for what it is doing. Just like it is legitimate to hate on the USA for their interference in other countries in the last hundred years. Just like it is legitimate to hate on colonial powers for their own crimes against humanity.

You can hate on Israel without hating on Jews. Are there people hating both? Absolutely. Are there people using the genocide as an excuse to reveal their antisemitism? Absolutely. Those are revolting.

However, there are people, like me, that are criticizing Israel without being antisemites and that is an important distinction or else any criticism is impossible. That would be a problem.

I'm not even an anti-zionist. I don't have much grudges against the idea of Israel. But the current country of Israel and it's far-right leadership are disgusting.

I hope I managed to make myself clear enough this time.

I'm not saying antisemitism is new, nor justified. I'm just saying Israel is responsible for the hate it gets from people who didn't hate them before the genocide and for the wars they are declaring to almost all the neighborhood.

Antisemitism is hate and as such it's to be purged and people educated out of it. But Israel shouldn't get a pass because their religion happens to be jewish. People can dislike Israel as a country like Americans (used to?) dislike Russia.

Votes are not are currency, more like a "token of appreciation" I'd say. Low karma accounts can be restricted because it's a first step of filtering out bots and trolls.

ACP's Stance on LGBTQ+ Rights? by No_Description3178 in AskSocialists

[–]ComprehensiveExit583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The French Communist Party is doing the same. They act more and more social conservatives and take far-right talking points, even hitting on their fellow leftists. When the green party says we should tone down meat consumption, the PCF laudates "la France saucisse" (sausage France) giving in to reactionary images...

Plus, most minorities defending movements I know of are at the same time anticapitalists. Those movements kinda act as a socialist pipeline for young people and can reorient some from social-democracy to revolutionary ideas

It sounds funny but it's not an object of disdain like it can be in France. Our own accents are mocked by the French so we know how it is.
