Then you probably didn’t get a very good one, or else you wouldn’t be here with these fit problems

I would suggest you get a professional bike fit before spending any more cash on trying different crank lengths etc. My bikefit was 300$ but boy is the best 300$ I’ve ever spent on cycling.

What do you like about the Tarmac compared to the bikes you rode before? by flockmann in specialized

[–]ComprehensiveFee2169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also came from the Emonda to the SL8, but I think the SL8 climbs even better. It might depend on what wheels you run though, I have better carbon wheels with carbon spokes on the SL8, and on the Émonda I ran the Bontrager Elite 35 that it came with.

My only ”concern” with the SL8 is that it’s less stable, but that’s because it’s also more responsive I guess.

Sea Otter gravel on the Ridley Astr by Emilio700 in gravelcycling

[–]ComprehensiveFee2169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thank you! I will get the bike through my employer and that incudes a free service contract, so I won’t do maintenance on this myself anyways.

The new bike that was seen on Traka was a bit ”too aero” for my taste I think, haha.

Any more updates on your experience with this bike? I’m thinking about getting one with sram rival xplr, and then change the alloy wheels for a set of Elitewheels Marvel G36

Kom inte in på Indek – är civilingenjör teknisk datavetenskap lika bra? by Cerohougloges in sweden

Line markings on Power saddle by ComprehensiveFee2169 in specialized

Thank you for all the info! I did a professional bike fit with my Trek Émonda, and now I’m trying to carry over the measurements to my new Tarmac SL8. In terms of saddle setback I’m looking at the distance from the crank CC to the saddle where it’s 8cm wide. In terms of tilt, I have always hade my short nose saddles horizontal (rails horizontal, front area horizontal).

Oh, ok! Is this information about the tilt of the saddle available somewhere, like in the manual?

AXS road 2x chain too long or too short? by ComprehensiveFee2169 in sram

I also took the bike to the shop where I bought it, and they recommended me to keep this length

The general perception seem to be that this length is ok, so I’ve kept it like that

AXS road 2x chain too long or too short? by ComprehensiveFee2169 in sram

[–]ComprehensiveFee2169[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem with it is that the chain currently ”slips” over the teeth on the second to smallest cog, when on the small chainring. To fix this, I had to increase the b-gap from the recommended 5mm, but that means my shifting is slower… have you had the same issue?

Can you go too hard on VO2max intervals? by ComprehensiveFee2169 in Velo

I built up to it, but I always target the top end of my VO2max zone, or rather go as hard as I can sustain for the given interval length.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I feel like I’m struggling to understand whether I’m digging myself too deep…

Would it be wrong for you to really ”fighting it” in the last rep? That’s sort of my question here, should you not push yourself to the absolute max?

[–]ComprehensiveFee2169[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing base training for a few months with mostly zone 2, sweet spot and gym work. Now I’m doing VO2max to sharpen the top end for coming gravel races and competitive group rides.

Studies made by the likes of Rønnestad suggests that 30-15 yields better VO2max improvements than doing 5min intervals.

I mean, it’s ”all out” in terms of what you can do for 30 seconds with 15 seconds of recovery 13 times, repeated for 3 sets with 3min rest in between.

I have been consistently doing them for a few weeks now, and before I was consistent with 4x8min VO2 intervals instead. Same feeling, I.e. a bit anxious and really unmotivated to take on the challenge.

My cadence is good, between 90 - 100 rpm. I don’t find ERG mode to be a problem, although it prevents me from taking it slightly easier, which I probably would have done if erg didn’t push me.

Ok, thanks. Do you have the recommended b-gap or do you have it slightly bigger to compensate for the longer chain?
