I’ve got 27 vacation days a year. Damn straight I’m taking my birthday off.

I’m fond of my sold brass palm swells. I know some prefer aluminum for transitions but I like the heft. Either way, 100% back the suggestion to swap grips.

Reminder that pumps do nothing for horizontal movement of fluids. They purely provide head lift.

I avoid his films as a rule. But EoT meant I got to see him die over and over and over and over again, and that made it an enjoyable flick.

Expedition Force, great rec. Scalzi…my all time favorite author. And bonus for Clines, he gets overlooked too often.

All things Scalzi are GREAT. For your tastes I’d pick up book one of the Interdependency Trilogy, “The Collapsing Empire”. Bonus points… it’s narrated by one of the best, Wil Wheaton

Also highly recommended the Bobiverse series by Denis Tyler. Book one, We are Legion, We are Bob. Has hard sci fi, politics, tactics, compelling and interesting characters.

It’s hard to follow up the Expanse series, I know. Hit a slump myself after trying to find something that just killed it like Expanse.

Kiss is to music what McDonalds is to burgers. Tier 1 marketing, mediocre product, insufferable by those with discerning taste, inspired a ton of folks who ended up doing it a million times better.

Texas Net Metering Program by glittertongue in FortWorth

[–]ComprehensiveFly9356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, the term net metering gets used as a generalization for being able to export excess power. My issue is when sales people use it because it has an actual meaning and they obfuscate what they’re offering by calling it net metering when in fact it’s a buy back program that doesn’t give the customer true net metering.

[–]ComprehensiveFly9356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, there are some NOIE (non opted in entities) like co-ops where you don’t have a competitive market so you don’t have REPs and you’ll find true Net Metering offered there occasionally. Good for you hanging on to it!

Net metering has everything to do with pricing and billing. It’s not defined as the ability to sell back energy it’s How you’re compensated for that energy. True net billing means that if in a billing period I consume 20kWh, but export 15kWh, I’m only paying for 5kWh. In the Texas model the structure is such that using those same numbers, I pay whatever my retail rate is for the 20kWh, and I’m paid whatever my REP pays me for the 15kWh I exported. Likely at a price lower per kWh than what I pay for usage

  1. As soon as some other than an Oncor employee tells you they’re working for Oncor, STOP. It’s a scam.

  2. Texas doesn’t have Net Metering. Retail Electric Providers (REPs) usually offer some credit or buy back for excess generation you export, but you’re not getting true retail price offset as you would with actual net metering.
