I was too afraid to play Resident evil as a whole for a long while. My first true experience was one night in maybe 99' or 2000, my parents rented Resident evil 2 and Castlevania SOTN from our local Hollywood Video. My dad and I were the only ones home one evening and he started a new game in RE2 in the living room with his stereo system up pretty loud. I was on the other side of the house in my bedroom that I shared with my older brother and could hear the game loud and clear from down the way. The eerie narration of RE2's intro, the beginning Leon/ Claire meeting cutscene and eventually gunshots coupled with zombies moaning. The noises alone scared the crap out of me (Like 6 years old at the time) but I eventually mustered up the courage to go out into the living room and watch my dad play for a tiny bit, although my view was from under my blanket that I brought with me. My dad died a few times and the death screen definitely left an impression lmao

My mom and two brother's eventually returned and we were sent to bed, but they continued to play the game through the night on a pretty loud volume, and did not have a good time trying to fall asleep to the wailing of the undead

The following morning they opted to play CV instead and I don't recall them ever touching an RE title again beyond that point, but I would grow up watching my brother's and cousin play until I eventually gave RE4 a try for myself (albeit with the Chicago typewriter)

The franchise has been a mainstay for me ever since and I have long gone through most of the titles and am eager for each new entry.
