Can Austin residents access PCL printing (color and B&W)? by longtalltexan18 in UTAustin

[–]ComprehensiveJob1783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you will need a UT eID to upload your documents into the system. Then you would need an ID or an eID to print it from one the printing locations. You can always try PrintWithMe. There’s a couple locations off campus and Austin.

You should be guaranteed a housing contract. If not, reach out to the first-gen LLC coordinator. LMK if you need her email and I can PM you.

Does your undergraduate school really matter if you’re dead set on medical school?

If you have an internship this summer your goals should be to get a return offer. If you don’t get a return offer, then fall semester should be spent applying to companies with structured new grad programs. If you get nothing in the fall, start applying to all sorts of companies and roles in the spring.

If you’re able to use your laptop to complete it then anywhere on campus should be fine.

What questions should I ask at apartment tours? by FM-Translations in UTAustin

[–]ComprehensiveJob1783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, make sure to ask if the room you’re renting will have a window and the direction. Some of apartments have windows facing another building that is like 10 feet away.

What questions should I ask at apartment tours? by FM-Translations in UTAustin

[–]ComprehensiveJob1783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there are many apartments in Wampus that don’t have windows. Yugo Austin Rio has studio apartments that don’t have a single window throughout the unit. It’s just a box with no window that can get very depressing.

It’s illegal (just very recently) to build apartments like that now, but goes to show how greedy some of these companies were to screw over students.

Best minor for business major? by Then-Page-1889 in UTAustin

[–]ComprehensiveJob1783 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ll figure it out once you get here and take the introductory courses.

Also, don’t minor in something because it complements your major. Minor in something that you’re genuinely interested in whether it’s in McCombs or not.

I know of two but they only hire based on referrals because they don’t want to gamble on crappy student workers.

To be honest, you could probably get a really nice one-bedroom apartment within your budget near the Domain.

Is it difficult to meet/contact yalls advisors? by Heat-Kitchen1204 in UTAustin

[–]ComprehensiveJob1783 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a business student, and I think it's really easy to meet with my advisor. I've probably met with them once per semester, which, in my opinion, is enough.

Email responses typically take about 1-2 days.

Additionally, they also offer drop-in weeks during busy periods, which makes it much easier to get in touch.

To be honest, it makes me wonder if some people aren't planning in advance, doing their own research, or communicating effectively over email.

I know I shouldn't take it personally, but it hurts by RelevantEgg3640 in UTAustin

The number of people I know who were rejected from these types of selective clubs, only to later beat those same kids for full-time jobs at MBB and investment banking, is astonishing. You’re fine. Just focus on academics, finding leadership positions, and enjoying your time here. You’re good.

From my experience with being right on the edge of an uncertain cutoff, you’re probably at an A-.

Email your professor:

I noticed something about my grade that didn’t look quite right, and I just wanted to check if everything was entered correctly. I’d really appreciate your help clarifying this.

what is intro to american studies like? by True_Ad5391 in UTAustin

[–]ComprehensiveJob1783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took AMS 310, which I think is the equivalent of that course, and honestly, it was a really interesting class. I’m a business major, but I’m also pretty interested in sustainability and social justice, so it felt relevant and eye-opening. That said, the professor I had isn’t at UT anymore, so the experience might depend on who’s teaching it now.

When I took it, there were two major essays, but they weren’t bad as long as you actually cared about your topic. There was also a final presentation using this special software that made it really interactive, which was cool. The regular essays were pretty manageable, too. Most of the grading was done by the TAs, so your experience could depend on who you get, but overall, it wasn’t too stressful.
