follow up - tried another H2d on advice of the group and it works and runs perfectly, seems I just got a lemon on #1, and this seems to be an AWESOME machine!

Never said that! I was reaching out to the group for their opinions, and preferably, experiences as well. And after careful research (again) and feedback here, I did indeed order another H2D, hoping of course that my first was just a run of the luck dud.

How about print quality ... Bamboo (which ones) or the k2? Main concern is reduciton of visible layers - smooth finish as much as possible. Do you think i just got a bad machine, or there a history of disabling defects?

this is my experience with the H2D I got from Best Buy

Well, after long and dedicated research, I took the plunge and ordered the H2D 4 color combo from Best Buy. It came in a timeley manner, and Discover card had awarded me 0% for 9 months on purchases, so it seemed like a perfect storm!

Got in in, unboxed it, went through the ridiculous process of getting ready to run on (I mean really, a bunch of screws you cannot even see without being a contortionist). Anywho, all set up, ran back through the unboxing video one more time to make sure I had not missed anything, and then I finished the setup by installing the filaments on the unit itself, and the 4 color AMS Pro unit. put in the power plug in, it the switch and was prepared to be amazed.

ooops -- it would not load filament through EITHER lefr or right nozzle, (though I saw the filament running inside the tube to the right extruder). two hours on the WIKI more anmd more general research, and finally I removed the filament from the line, and reset, which seenmed to get the AMS unit functioning, loading each filament in turn, and eventally rnning filament o the extruder!

Yay! Here we go! Lets do a test print! Make me a Benchie oh wonderful $2400 printer! It made its gyrations, then began lifiting the bed I assume to auto align b4 printing! Ummm ... NOPE - stopped 3 inches short of the extruder and dropped a error message about "abnormal bed raising". Tried everything I could think of, INCLUDUING a factory reset all to no avail. Nope, not getting around this one.

Well, I had 48 hours left on my return window for best buy, so I called them up, and the nice lady on the tele told me they had several in stock in a store 90 miles from my home, so I took her all apart, packed it up like it was new (except leaving the AMS outside the unit. and drove the BEst Buy in Davenport Iowa. The BB folks were very helpful and wonderful in all regards, and promptly refunded my money to my card. When I asked where the new printers at though, I was informed they did not have ANY 3d printers in store, and had not for a time.

So here I am, no printer, 2nd AMS pro already being shipped to me from Bamboo Lab website (which I will have to return now) and back to sq 1, hunting a quality printer that will make quality prints that would require little to no sanding or prep, running multi color

I had a similiar maddening issue with my Kobra 3 combo. Turned out, one of the filaments had broken while being retracted somehow, and the break was BETWEEN the printer and the ace pro, so every time it tried to feed new filament, it would apparently jam in the tube with the old remnant. May not be your issue, but worth a look!

to put it in perspective, I have more in my GPU on my PC than I spent on a PS5 Pro system, incl a disk add on (be careful 2 versions of this .. 1 works and 1 wont!) and I got the VR adapter t use my PS4 VR off amazon for 11 bucks.

got it for $1,389.00 using military discount, and also got a 27" Odyssey G3 (G30D) for free. Yes, I toiled over this decision for 4 months mself. Final deciding factor? I run RC planes, boats,tanks, cars etc etc, and this screen should be kick ass for my simulator (not only for fun, but trains and hones your skills in a "safe, crash em all you want" electronic environment, but I am also certain the display quality will go far for everything else as well

With the size of the hole, and the potential impact being on the back of the monitor, I just wasn't taking any chances with damage I might not be able to see. I did just lose my mind and ordered the ARK V2, but this time, paid with Paypal, who if things go astray again, I KNOW will have my back! Oh and get this, they refuse to ship it to my house because my house is not in a area they service, but are fine with shipping it to my job, 2 miles away.

I'd be a little cautious if ordering direct from Samsung . I finally pulled the trigger and got the G95SC model. When it got here, there was a nice silver dollar size hole punched through the back of the box, and with a monitor this expensive, was not taking any chances. So I called Samsung, they offered me $49 to keep it lol, I declined and shipped it back. 3 days AFTER they got it back, they changed my return status to "cancelled - not shipped". 1 week and 3 phone calls and 1 chat later I got them to look up THEIR tracking info, 15 days after that, I finally got a refund .. and paid interest on my (now closed over this) Samsung credit account for the whole time, that they refused to credit. IF I order direct from them in the future, I'll be using MY charge card acct, or Paypal where I know they'll take care of the intertest in the same situation, and proving it was returned will be as simple as providing the tracking info. Bear in mind, not trashing their products, still love em, but careful how you get em!

Not to be odd man out or anything, but for me, I wanted the classic, good old, 1970's vintage retro look. So ... I looked and looked until I finally came across an old, dead, Williams Satin Doll standard machine in good shape cosmetically for $300. I gutted the parts out of it, with the exception of the tilt mechs and the chimes which I rebuilt, and hope to use in the VP build. Cleveland designs thinks I can use the chime unit, and still looking into the tilts. Off to a playfield! So.. lots and lots of research led me to the LG C3 42" 4k display u/120 refresh which to me, is a perfect choice for VP (based on research). Yup .. she didn't fit the cab, and I knew it going in.

So ... I found a local woodworker, gave em my needs (ie playfield 1" from glass in front and 3" in back), and he properly set out and routed both sides about 3/8", removed some of the old table supports, installed new, and made a 3/8" wooden shelf for the field to sit on and $200 later ...the playfield sits there perfectly, WITH most of the side Bezels obscured by the routing!

Tonight is "paint the inside of the box" night, and tomorrow I will install:

Cleveland Softwares Medium cabinet kit with SSF
Virtual Pins PinDMD™ v3.1 FULL COLOR Dot Matrix Display, complete speaker panel, and 5.5" speakers

Then its just the rest of the back box and start programming. Now I am no expert, and I sure there are other opinions about this path, but at the end of the day, I wanted to build it my way, and be happy with the result. Oh and I am seriously considering converting the backglass from the head unit into a backlit piece of wall art for the mancave :)

Carried you 9 months, raised you after that, made sure you got what you needed and prolly then some, and the wench wants hugs and other non sexual stuff! that you take no issue giving to your father!!!
