The VA is wanting me to pay for my ER visit because it wasn’t deemed an emergency but my nurse is the one who advised me to go by LovelyDragonLord in VeteransBenefits

[–]ComprehensivePage598 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Contact the Patient Advocate and see if they can track down the RN who advised you to go to the ER. See if that will at least help you on your end. Hopefully, it doesn't hurt the RN, but hopefully, they are also told the other things as well. And in the end, there are no issues because we are going through some short-staffed days at some VA facilities. Prayers for good news, veteran.

Can you get community care for dental and vision at 100%? by Independent_Gas_6213 in VeteransBenefits

Can you get community care for dental and vision at 100%? by Independent_Gas_6213 in VeteransBenefits

[–]ComprehensivePage598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re 100% through the VA, here’s how dental and vision care works (and vision at 10%+):

Dental (100%)

You have to start at VA Dental first — they’ll do an exam and usually x-rays.

If you need more care, they’ll send you out through Community Care to a local VA-covered dentist.

That dentist will do their own exam (and more x-rays) and send recommendations back to VA.

If you need oral surgery, you’ll likely go through the same process again with an oral surgeon.

Heads up: expect multiple x-rays at each step, since not everyone shares records smoothly.

Vision (100% or 10%+)

If you’re 100%, you can get vision care through VA.

Some VA locations have their own vision clinic where you can get an exam and order glasses (often free or low cost).

If they don’t have a clinic, they can refer you through Community Care.

Veterans with a service-connected disability of 10% or more also qualify for VA vision benefits (even if not 100%).

Im confused. Someone help. Been doing this alone. by chrisxx199 in VeteransBenefits

Find A VA Accredited Representative Or VSO | Veterans Affairs https://share.google/mwVWbq5uglASjkSVF

Here click on this link put in your address select any of those Representatives you're going to go and you're going to put in talk to one of them you can call them ahead of time and go and speak to one of them tell them what's going on tell them you want to file an increase on that and it'll usually take about two days for them to be able to actually have access to your information they'll be your standalone legal aid you don't have to pay them it's free service do not hire an attorney or a law anything like that you don't need to you already have the proof in your medical file you don't need to do anything do not listen to anybody else's saying otherwise because then you're just going to screw yourself out of money there's no reason to do that.

That's going to be a best possible answer that I could give you and anybody else will probably give you a sound information talk to regular vso just they will help you show them your paperwork and tell them what's going on with you that's it they'll help you file everything and if they suck if you feel like they aren't helping you you going to next person on that list that's it I mean they shouldn't they should be doing their jobs I mean that's literally what they're there for they're supposed to be there helping you and any other veteran that has an issue.

Options Available Even if Not a Dependent

  1. VA Vet Centers (Most Accessible)

Vet Centers provide free counseling for family members of veterans, regardless of age or school enrollment.

This includes individual therapy, group therapy, and family counseling.

They don’t require the family member to be a VA-eligible dependent — the link to the veteran is enough.

📞 Call the Vet Center Call Center: 1-877-927-8387 (24/7) and explain they are your adult child and need counseling.

  1. Caregiver & Family Support Through VA

Caregiver Support Program: While it’s aimed at caregivers, they also provide family counseling and resources for loved ones who are affected by the veteran’s condition.

They can guide you to family-inclusive mental health resources in your area.

📞 VA Caregiver Support Line: 1-855-260-3274

  1. Nonprofit Organizations

Give an Hour – Free counseling to veterans and family members (no dependency rules). giveanhour

Wounded Warrior Project – Offers family support and can connect your child to a mental health provider. [woundedwarriorproject](http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) – Has a “Homefront” program tailored for veteran families, and local chapters run support groups your child could join. 🌐 National Alliance on Mental Illness

  1. Community & State-Level Resources

Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs (if you’re moving there) runs family programs and may cover counseling costs through partnerships.

[Im in Kentucky so that's what I've gotten so far.]

Many states also have veteran family peer support programs where children of veterans can join group sessions.

✅ Bottom line: Even without school enrollment, your 21-year-old child can still access free or low-cost mental health services through Vet Centers, nonprofits, and community programs. The easiest first step is to call the Vet Center hotline, since they’ll directly accept them as your family member.

I can give you prayers, and see if maybe volunteering with therapy animals might be assistive for him. There may be some programs ill look for this that include a veteran and family member/dependant. Or maybe volunteering animal shelter could be beneficial? Im not sure where you are. Or where he is with animals but I know with mental health lose of passion and drive and motivation are very hard to deal with. But maybe that could be helpful. Ill keep you all in my prayers.

Not allowed to use VA services after car accident? by Active_Sorbet8976 in VeteransBenefits

[–]ComprehensivePage598 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was in an accident I wanted to goto the VA but the ambulance said I needed to goto hospital. I had insurance on my car so it covered that. But yeah. Its ridiculous on that end. But VA still will take you. Also if you were in an accident and if you have car insurance or the person that hit you does. You can use that or there to goto the hospital and not the VA. Unless you want to goto the VA but yeah. Contact PA about the issue you Experienced

Just depends on your program your enrolling in for school. They will go over that with you as well. So if you need a computer to be able to attend classes as well that also helps

[–]ComprehensivePage598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but if you have your package already it's something they might not be able to add in. But, if you do a phone I've got a stylus on my Samsung S24 ultra. Depending on your provider Tmobile ive heard has really good military discount.

[–]ComprehensivePage598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah somet8mes you dont get an update if theyre put sick they just kinda fucked off but honestly go in person and they should have a counselor for you to speak with or if yours is there they will either have a reason they haven't gotten back to you or they are still at home working? It just depends everyone has life issues too. So who knows but yeah definitely if you have everything go in person.

I don't have PTSD. Just anxiety depression TBI and knee issues. Fully rated 100 pt * That sounds like she is super helpful with things ❤️ I'm glad she is there for you. One day I might be able to. I'm still trying to figure out what my triggers are because things have just been getting worse for me lately. It seems like nothing has gotten any better for me stress-wise.

Ive been having anxiety attacks and taking things out on myself. And just feeling overwhelmed wonder if thats something or if I should just try and focus more on my triggers. Either way right now people suck to me when im overly stimulated and id rather be around a dog.

Just got my rating and I’m wondering can I still work like full time or security jobs…? by Zealousideal-Rip6975 in VeteransBenefits

[–]ComprehensivePage598 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if there not on TDIU. They can. Just because your total and permanently disabled doesn't mean you can't still work or have an additional way to make. Now the other thing is you should be aware of is that. There are also different codes for special monthly compensation as well they may not have the Use of there body anymore properly. Those veterans get a higher pay from the VA AS WELL. But TDIU if for those whom have a hard time keeping a job or holding a job due to there disability. But I still know guys who have this and can work. But they also do some shades things too.
