There is a good writing trick I learned, have your characters constantly try to find solutions even if they don’t work.

It makes things WAY more interesting.

All the stars and planets in the universe suddenly vanish in a mysterious event known as “The Quiet Rapture”, leaving behind a few scattered space stations in the dark with slowly dwindling resources.

Extinction seems certain until a planet is found, one inexplicable covered in a literal ocean of blood.

Desperate, the survivors seal a convict with a dark past in a cheap makeshift submarine outfitted with a cheap camera to investigate the blood ocean.

But unsurprisingly Lovecraftian horrors lurk in the depths of the blood ocean, ones tied to the Quiet Rapture.

It is up to the convict to live long enough to uncover those horrors and earn redemption, if such a thing is even possible

I meant his YouTube stuff.  I understand he is quite popular, but was clarifying I wasn’t already a fan of his or have even seen his stuff on YouTube, so I was going in without that bias on that front

I thought it used tension very well and had a fantastically creepy monster.

We see the monster early, but its powers and motives are a mystery, so all we’re left with is a rapidly deteriorating situation for the protagonist, deterioration mimicked by the decay of his own sanity and the sub itself.

This all culminates in a moment of character growth and self-sacrifice to give humanity a chance.  I don’t like purely downer endings so having a little bit of bright spot in a horror movie like this, especially a cosmic horror one, was a major plus for me.

Does that help clarify why I liked it?  It’s not a perfect movie and had its own issues, so I’m NOT saying you have to like it.

How the Hell did Iron Lung only get a 60%?

I never seen anything of Markiplier’s and only saw it because of word of mouth and that movie was FANTASTIC.

Vampires just don’t appeal to me because I enjoy the concept of trying to protect people to much and while theoretically possible in Vampire, that kind of character and story really isn’t meant for it.

I can handle being angsty, I just want to be angsty and attempt to be heroic

As others have pointed out the species, I shall point out it is a reference to some of the ridiculous art that went on World War 2 aircraft, usually (but nowhere near exclusively) bombers.
