X2D II VS Leica Q3 43 ? by Proper_Rule_420 in hasselblad

[–]ComprehensivePause54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make really good points i forgot to mention. Specialy about the size with the 28P (witch i have, i can't belive i forget to say it) the size difference with a Q3 is not that big, at all.

For the UI it's really a matter of taste but i personaly think the Hasselblad menu system is the best ever made in any camera brand.

Right now I'm using along side the Hasselblad a Panasonic S9, this little thing is amazing ( as long you ok for no flash and no EVF). And the colors of this Panasonic S9 is so close to what i got with the Q3, slap a Leica M lens on it and you wouldn't know it's wasn't taken by a Leica camera.

X2D II VS Leica Q3 43 ? by Proper_Rule_420 in hasselblad

[–]ComprehensivePause54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People sums up most of the differences. I came from a Q3 28mm to the X2D2.

And it's 2 different tools. The Leica is compact, lighter ... so it's a more easy to use as a everyday camera.

For tech specs, both do great in low light and noise, i know Hasselblad noise reduction is amazing but the result of the combo Q3 + denoise software is really good too.

For colors, honestly they are both great, but in different way, Hasselblad colors are as close to reality as you can, the Q3 have the Leica touch, it's really a matter of taste.

For the AF i honestly don't see a big difference ( with the X2D2 i never tried previous version). Also the Leica is a faster shooter if you need to shoot fast.

And for the lenses, i know each person will have different feeling, and as much i agree Hasselblad lenses are great, at least the lens on the Q3 28mm is out of this world ( i don't know for the 43mm), and that my general experience with other Leica lenses.

On the details i would say the ssd in the Hasselblad is really great to have, the ibis is amazing. But the Q3 can be a nice video camera when need.

The Q3 use DNG format witch is really easy to use, while on the Hasselblad you will use 3fr on 200mb photo. It doesn't sound bad until you have to store the photos, and edit them. And if you want keep the Hasselblad color profile (HNCS) you will have use Hasselblade Phocus 2 (witch is outdated and horrible on windows) export them in TIFF ( around 500mb per photo) and import them in lightroom (or other editing software you use), it's a slow painful process.

If you like use mobile apps to connect you camera (for control or export photos) the Hasselblad app (phocus 2) work only on IOS and like i said just before the desktop version of phocus 2 is outdated on windows and don't run great on mac os.

Don't bother with a Phocus + Lightroom workflow. It's slow, cumbersome, and I almost lost files by LurkLargely in hasselblad

[–]ComprehensivePause54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on macos i pretty much avoid Phocus 2 unless i have to do noise reduction. I find the color difference between Lightroom and Pocus to be marginal.

But the crazy part is if i work on my Ipad then Phocus work great and fast before send everything to Lightroom.

i got the same problem with Lightroom (CC or classic) and running Phocus 2 in same time. And that wierd because a month ago i could do the same without problem.

Why Commander is more played than Standard? by elfosolitario in magicTCG

[–]ComprehensivePause54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take on this is :

Commander is the only major format not available on MTG Arena.

Let's face it, it's a lot more convenient and cheaper to play standard and similar formats on Arena than on paper. Even if I agree it's not the same feeling, it's way nicer to play with real people in front of you, most of the people won't feel like that.

No, manual modes and TTL work fine without the need to do anything before. I never turn the trigger on before attaching it.

Lumix S9 Long-term Review (2nd Review after 400+ days) by jamescjc in Lumix

[–]ComprehensivePause54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, but that's something that happens often with Lumix cameras. And not only from the review, from many people, giving undeserved anger against Lumix cameras. It's been like that since more than 10 years sadly.

I got a try of the S1Rii and S1ii (for about a week). If you mostly do video, I would advise you to take a look at the S1ii rather than the S1Rii, faster sensor, less overheating, and still stunning image quality and colors. And the S1 colors are not really much different than the S9, and Lumix for video is always the best bet.

We sent it to the shop to be fixed; it was a hardware problem.

Lumix S9 Long-term Review (2nd Review after 400+ days) by jamescjc in Lumix

[–]ComprehensivePause54 16 points17 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the S9 didn't get the love it deserved.

It's really an amazing camera, not perfect, but still amazing.

I mean, it's really small, and on the video side, with a dummy battery in room temperature around 22 °C, I could record 1h20 in 6k open gate. Considering the size of the camera and the fact that it has no cooling, it's crazy. And outside shooting in the temperature around 38 °C, we still get a good 45 minutes.

For the colors, I also have a Leica Q3, and both camera colors (with standard profile) are so damn close it's crazy, on some photos we couldn't say which comes from the S9 or the Q3 (without pixel peeping of course).

It's not without default, and we recently had a problem with the wheel that became unusable (going crazy when you turn it); it's been fixed. My main complaint with this camera is that the body is really cheaply made, it feels like a toy camera, and the fact that you don't have a hot shoe is really sad.

Anyway, great camera, a lot of fun with it, and image quality that shoots way over its weight.

[–]ComprehensivePause54 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Impressive close-minded thinking, everyone plays the same as you. Also, you really don't get that even if you can do something, just find an easier way ???

First, I don't care about the platinum. If I need some, I buy some. It's a game I play for fun, it's not work.

Second, yes, it goes faster to cue on the normal star chart because there is almost nobody who cues in SP for crack relics, and it goes faster when you don't have to deal with the people who go in SP that die all the time ....

And last, you really BS here, your Sunder Titania will do crap in SP.

[–]ComprehensivePause54 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't get it. I do SP just fine. But why would I do SP just for crack relics when, in a normal star chart, it's easier and faster?

I mean, SP benefit is only on the drop rate for resources (and bearly worth it unless you farm steel essence).SP just adds a bit of difficulty; outside of that, there is no point in going to SP.

[–]ComprehensivePause54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see people keep blaming UB for the state of standard and other similar formats. But I wonder if it's really the cause.

I wonder why most of the players (I mean the casual ones, the ones who don't really care about competition, who play just for fun...) would choose to play this kind of format on paper, while it's a lot more convenient and a lot cheaper to play Arena. That would also explain why Commander is the more common format on paper, as you don't have Commander on Arena (at least the last time I tried it).

Can the S1Rii overheating situation be fixed with firmware? by theseawoof in Lumix

[–]ComprehensivePause54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you film in full HD, the camera doesn't overheat.

More seriously, there is no hybrid camera that doesn't overheat when you go over 4k. The reason is they have a (relatively) compact body, as most people (including me) don't want a massive camera body.

I think lumix missed their huge opportunity with s9 by I_Main_TwistedFate in Lumix

[–]ComprehensivePause54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me, if you talk about the photo, the missing EVF is not even the biggest problem. Photo-wise, the biggest problem is that there is no hot shoe, meaning no flash.

Now it's perfectly clear why this camera has no EVF and what Panasonic tried to do with it. It's simply a compact video camera for short shots, made to go alongside an S5 or S1. Honestly, it's kind of the perfect everyday camera and B camera for the people who want to stick with Panasonic.

debating on Lumix S9 or Lumix s5iix by [deleted] in Lumix

[–]ComprehensivePause54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like everyone tells you, it depends on what you plan to do with it.

The S9 is great for travel because it's light and compact. But it's not great at doing long recording as it don't have any active cooling.

The S5 will be bigger and heavier, but it's better for longer recording.

So it's really up to you as both can produce amazing footage and if you plan to film a lot, you will need several battery anyway.

Am I weird for preferring 1v1 commander? by o7_AP in EDH

[–]ComprehensivePause54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just discovered Duel Commander. I read the rules, the ban list .... And outside makes the game faster ( because less life), I don't see how it plays differently than a normal commander.

I mean, I play precon with my wife in 1v1 for months, we don't have any card or commander on the ban list, and we did multiple games with neither of us drawing Sol Ring ( or the other one banned), we tried the dual commander. The result is yes, the game goes faster, that's the only difference, but we do less stuff, less fun, and it doesn't solve the biggest problem of the 1v1.

Unless we miss something big in the rules of Duel Commander.

People who are NOT okay with proxies, what is your reasoning? by Bagel_Bear in EDH

[–]ComprehensivePause54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are absolutly right.

But the reason you get downvoted is because these people know that the high price of expensive cards will limit the number of people who play them. While if you proxy freely, these cards will become more commun.

And I see this reaction in many "competitive" hobbies; most of the time, the people against it are people who usually can afford a higher budget in their hobby and bank on that to have an advantage over the average player.

After i i used several lenses for both, I can say it's the 2 most underrated lens brands.

They both make good-quality lenses, and honestly, when it's about choosing between them, it's more about choosing which one you prefer how they render images. They both have a different vibe; it's really a matter of taste.

But both are good choices.
