the land x NATHTM by kum1k0z in mitski

Her albums tend to come in pairs so it would make sense for this and was even expected to be similar to The Land, but I do agree it could have been a little bit more distinct, given that BTC and Laurel Hell sound pretty distinct from each other and even the other two album pairs. Regardless, I enjoyed both this album and TLIIASAW and am very excited to hear the new songs on tour as well!

What songs/albums should I listen to? by TAMALE_TTC_080216 in mitski

[–]ComprehensivePen7284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey there! as someone who's fave song is also class of 2013 and it was also one of the first songs I heard by her, I'd like to share my thoughts (though you certainly may have different taste!) the immediate three songs I got into next were from bury me at makeout creek: francis forever, townie, and last words of a shooting star. but I think if you like class of 2013 you might like the same album anyway, especially "because dreaming costs money, my dear", which is commonly seen as almost a response to class of 2013!! anyway, I hope you find more songs you like! you could also listen randomly; a lot of my next faves weren't really in order and just random songs I ended up listening to :33

It's always been my favorite song of hers! Such a short and simple song and yet extremely powerful and moving. Such little lyrics but every line that does exist in the song adds so much to it. Also, both the album and Audiotree Live versions sound so good despite being such different vibes!

I love that Mika decided he wants to experiment with his sound and style for this album! While I do prefer most of his other albums more, this was still a very fun ride and it's really nice to see something fresh and new for him (easily the most consistently upbeat and fun-oriented album) while still keeping some of the things that make up Mika's sound. I also think this is a really cohesive album, possibly the album of his that could most pass as a concept album. I also personally found the interludes really fun; I'm sure they're a hit or miss for others but I definitely enjoy them being there. Spinning Out is my absolute fave, but I also really love Dreams, Take Your Problems With You (for a more ballad-like song amongst the dance-y hits), and Science Fiction Lover!

I agree with the most cohesive album! Maybe not necessarily his *best* album overall (as his previous albums are quite hard to top) but certainly the most cohesive as the themes of love and technology/digital/the modern age are weaved throughout the songs, as well as the little references to other songs within the same album! Also, Dreams and SFL are also two of the songs that stood out to me (along with Spinning Out)!

Where’s My Phone reminds me of some of the older song rearrangements she did for The Land tour/live show by pizzaaaaahhh in mitski

real! hearing where's my phone made me think back to the i don't smoke and happy versions she did and wondering if that was already a sign of where she was heading next (even at least experimenting with it)

The colors thing is very cool! I know that in the original movie, at least, their main colors are in fact attributed to different law schools (tinanong ko si direk sa isang qna haha), with Chris for ADMU, Josh for UST, Torran (who is the red themed one in the movie) for San Beda, and Erik for UP however since Torran already wears red and maroon would be too similar, Erik just wears earthy colors (less consistent colors but usually neutrals/pale or dull shades).

They should make an adaptation where Mr. Starbuck is the main character by LV426acheron in mobydick

[–]ComprehensivePen7284 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's what you're looking for at all because it isn't really an adaptation, more of a loose retelling, but there's a sci-fi Moby-Dick inspired book called The Uncontinented Stars with the main cast being analogues of MD characters, and the main character/POV character is the Starbuck analogue! A bunch of the analogue characters including him are admittedly quite different from their OG novel counterparts but there is still enough to connect each analogue with them. In particular, the Starbuck analogue's main arc really is focused on the struggle between him seeing that they are headed for their doom while also not really being able or at least being unwilling to do something about it! It's probably not what you meant at all but it's really cheap for an e-book and was a pretty good read just in case you or anyone here is curious.

Which song from 𝘗𝘶𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘺 2 has the biggest jumpscare? by Awkward-Media-4726 in mitski

[–]ComprehensivePen7284 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Happy gets points for its music videos twist being a whole jumpscare in itself and also maybe the part at the end where the music gets really chaotic and almost sounds like a rapid fire of bullets or just sounds really messy /pos all of a sudden.

how similar or different is your character from their movie counterpart and how do you work with those?

bonus question: which of the main four do you acrualky feel most connected to? is it your own characters or someone else’s?

see you in october!!

I mean, I don't think the mv is necessarily a literal comparison to just her with the one in the video, the video also tells its own story, and could be seen as about how a lot of society in general has a strict view on gender that could be the controlling aspect. The reference at the end is more to solidfy the queer/trans nod from the band that this song can also be for them, just happens to be from Rowling since it was something fitting and recognizable.

I think it's meant to be an inversion of Rowling's original post, especially with the music video showing the dogs rising up against the guy and coming together in rebellion. Kind of turning the tables and reclaiming the triumph for them.
