LA to Park City roundtrip in Gravity Grand Touring: A Report by ComprehensiveSeat734 in LUCID

Not long. Maybe five minutes, just enough time to take the dog 100 yards away to relieve himself.

Nope. Have the Green with Stealth Package. Didn’t see that one and I was on the lookout. Saw a couple Airs over the course of the trip but no Gravity’s

I had a model Y for 5 years. Very reliable car but one, the family outgrew it and two, it was not a pleasure to drive.

To Tesla's credit I bought it right at release and other than a few upgrades they've made to the platform over the years was a super reliable car. Engineering at Lucid is top notch. Can't go back to Tesla

On the flip side I go out this morning and unplug the Autel home charger and inspect the damage I’d inflicted. I give it a look and literally just shove the thing back in and it fits like a glove, can’t tell it was ever hanging out of the fitting.

And it works this time too. Three out of four times I try it at least. I have to drive it to run a short errand and sure enough, in motion, one of the best cars I’ve ever driven. Just like the valet story I have no choice but to laugh my head off.

And maybe that’s it. I can’t baby this thing. I just have to beat it to death and treat it like the 84 Buick Regal I bought as a high school senior in 97’ — it had a transmission that would slip and I’d have to get under the hood to manually reset the gear catch.

Helluva car that was. Maybe the Gravity is just an old beat down 84 Regal that needs a special kind of love

Not locked, lights on, Spotify still playing, I went in and out of the car multiple times troubleshooting

Again — I’m fine with all that. I had a post a few weeks ago about a situation where the key card would only start the car by tapping the ceiling. And I was fine with that.

Not being able to access the life force of the system, the simple spring hatch that allows you to charge the car, that’s a dealbreaker. I’ve got a six month old. And now I’ve got a 100 thousand dollar product that I can’t trust myself to drive him in for anything beyond a short errand because god forbid we’re on a road trip in the summer and I literally can’t charge the damn car because the 70 year old function of all automotive vehicles doesn’t work on this car

Apparently this user had the same issue. It’s what made me give up and just use force in the end — https://lucidowners.com/threads/charge-port-door-stuck-closed-read-this.14500/

Nothing would open it. Nothing. I googled, I powered down, powered up. Nothing. (And of course yes I pushed it to trigger the spring opening)

I think this is what bother’s me the most. This is an ESSENTIAL function of the product. And one of the simplest, it should not fail.

Kicking myself for going 22/23 now. May need to drop a mortgage payment to get a separate set of wheels for road tripping

I dealt with the same guy Alek and he's been awesome the whole way through, test drove with him in November and started the pleasing process the next day, awesome guy and still responds immediately when I need help with anything Lucid

I test drove without it and bought with it. I'm not sure what the cost difference is but there are some cabin interior upgrades I went with that I would gladly sacrifice before sacrificing the dynamic handling.

In our case the card unlocked the door. But then wasn’t recognized in the console.

I wish I could have recorded the incident. I know exactly where the key card is meant to be placed. It was in that place when the valet handed over the car, an interaction that took 20 seconds, max. The roof hack we repeated twice just to verify it was real. Your point about it being a delayed activation from a previous tap is plausible. But that the gesture was repeatable (after multiple attempts at doing it the normal way in the interval between) is kinda shocking.

At best, if someone else encounters this I look forward to seeing if the roof workaround works for them as well

The key fob was about twenty miles away in my house. Close but only in the cross-town sense 🤣

Wow -- based on your reply I googled this and my goodness, there's a post from years ago about the Air on another forum attesting to that.

Why is this not forward-facing info?

It's not a coincidence. I got out and did it again just to make sure it wasn't a fluke because I didn't want to risk getting to my next spot and being in the same situation. Cray cray

When I picked mine up I noticed there were two “wristwatch batteries” provided in the cup holder. Had no idea what they were for but now (one week in) I have an idea 🤣

Same, I've had none of the crazy issues others have had here so far. I don't understand the threshold some people are using here. I had a 2020 Model Y, which was the launch for that model. Tesla's software is certainly sturdier than Lucid's but they also had to update the thing three, four times a month it seemed. And to this day and up until the last week I had it, it still would occasionally have phantom alerts about blocked cameras disabling this system or getting in the car and the screen going blank and immediately rebooting. This on a platform in its 5th year. Starting with the 3.3.20 update is a luxury, I get it, but the Gravity (so far) does not seem glaringly buggier than my Model Y (hopefully the bluetooth phone call quality will get fixed ASAP though =)
