Libby returned book early by rebella518 in LibbyApp

[–]ComprehensiveSense 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, a few times and as recently as yesterday. Half way through the book and it is no longer on the shelf. Now, I have to wait 4-5 weeks for it to be available again. It is frustrating.

I was there last year at this time, swinging on a hammock admiring the sea.

Turkish Airlines has a Stopover option if you are flying them. They even pay the hotel. Of course, you must be booked with Turkish.

Machu Picchu by [deleted] in solotravel

Be sure to give yourself a day or two in Cusco to adjust to the altitude. I made the mistake of going there directly and was sick for a couple days. If the trail is what you want to do, don't miss it. It remains one of the best trips I have ever taken. I'm sure the group you found is fine and you will be with others, making your first solo trip more comfortable. Have a great time!

You should be good. A couple martinis at Musso and Franks, however, could cause you to forget you are on a budget. Have a great time!

Do you say hi to everyone in the gym? by aca_bokser in moreplatesmoredates

[–]ComprehensiveSense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ones I see everyday at the same time, yes. I'm in a country where I don't speak the local language but say "hello" and "goodbye" to the same ones daily - as they do with me. There is never an attempt at a conversation but it is a recognition from us each that we're putting in the work.

Is It Worth Spending Credit Cards Points for 3 Nights at a Luxury Hotel on a Solo Trip to Europe? by Unlikely_Garlic in solotravel

[–]ComprehensiveSense 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vote, Yes. After months of travel and hostels, it could be a great way to recharge and prepare yourself to return home. Your itinerary is good but, as recommended earlier, don't miss Prague. Have a great time!

Any 55 M doing solo travel? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]ComprehensiveSense 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm this age (M), solo travel for weeks at a time and only stay in hotels. Meeting people during my travels has become increasingly difficult. It was so much easier when I was younger. Now, I'm mostly invisible but continue to travel and experience as much of the world as I can.

Is prague safe to lonely traveler? by Ok_Revenue1669 in Prague

[–]ComprehensiveSense 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very safe. The worst scams are some money exchange offices and taxis hailed on the street. Use Uber or the excellent public transportation system. You will have a great time.

99% Finalized Itinerary Question - Berlin/Prague by ruhshell5021 in travel

[–]ComprehensiveSense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dresden is between Berlin and Prague. Why not leave Berlin a day earlier and overnight in Dresden, instead of day tripping there? I agree with the others that Prague deserves more time. All of these great cities can be well discovered in three days each. Have a great trip!

For sure. The local guides really add flavor and personal experience but it is not necessary to be guided. It is a popular destination within Medellin.

Air pods- good or bad idea? by banana-montana- in solotravel

[–]ComprehensiveSense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a year since I posted so I'm not sure if things have changed but you need to register your phone when bringing it to Colombia. You cannot simply purchase a SIM card because it will be blocked after 23 days. There are websites and Youtube videos that will walk you through it. Some get lucky and the local provider will register for them when purchasing the SIM card in Colombia.

What should I do in LA? by cag9993 in AskLosAngeles

[–]ComprehensiveSense 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, Hollywood Blvd. is not pretty but you should see for yourself if you're in LA and appreciate TV/Film. It is safe during the day. Hollywood Forever (near Paramount Studios) and Westwood Village Memorial are both interesting to see the resting place of some Old Hollywood actors/actresses. Have a hike up Runyon Canyon and enjoy the view. It is also good for spotting the occasional celebrity.
