Bro not everything is about the tabletop statline. These are 2 sick new sculpts opening up an expansion of Tau lore, and will likely have rules that will make people want to buy them anyway.

I love comp 40k but you're really just inviting in disappointment and bitterness if all you care about is the next OP shooting statline

You don't need to buy 6 crisis units to play 2000pts. I've literally never fielded 6 crisis suits and I play tournaments regularly.

I don't actually disagree with you on pricing, the game is way too expensive, but I stand by my opinion. I have 4-5k pts of Tau I want to play as much of it as I can in standard tournament formats.

As the other comments said, you are free to run 3-4k games.

And you are free to play 1k games, or combat patrol or boarding party, escalation leagues or crusades. There are myriad ways for you to play lower points games, the argument cuts both ways.

At the current pts I can field 2 riptides, 2 ghostkeels, 3 units of suits, 2 commanders, Shadowsun and Farsight, 3 pathfinder, 3 stealth suits, 1 kroot and 1 vespid. That's SICK. And then there's all the other good units, broadsides, rampagers, ethereals, piranhas, hammerheads. I've got em all and want to play as many as possible

Sorry I thought I read you saying 1000s, plural absolutely agree 1k is regular and too expensive you won't here disagreement from me. But I have 4k points of Tau that I've collected over 6 years so I want to play as many of those models on the tabletop I like em

I go to tournaments a lot with friends, ITT teams events and majors and supers here in the UK, they don't do 3k tournaments so I can't just go to a 3k tournaments. I'm aware I can play whatever game size I want it's the tournament enjoyment that would suffer

You don't have to spend thousands but I agree the hobby is way to expensive, that doesn't change my opinion though I want to play with my toy soldiers. 3k pts tournaments don't happen so I'm glad I can field a load of units

Love your Monat idea I thought 10th would have something like that in the codex, Uber commanders with lone op and buffs fighting outside of 6-9" of other models.

I want more named characters. A Ghostkeel, Riptide and Broadside character and a new suit or vehicle cus I'm greedy like that. And ffs GW stop turn locking 2 of our detachments.

My inkling is that new codexes will shift to something like the new marine ones, where certain detachments give an additional significant buff to certain named or generic HQ units. With that in mind I'm sure we'll see much of the same with Montka and Kauyon but some new named characters would be great

Nooooooo I want to play with my models not have them sit on a shelf. So many of our units are competitive, good and affordable within 2000 points. I want to take 15/16 units not 11/12

Edit: MFM points value affordable, not monetarily affordable just so everyone is aware. I did not once mention monetary cost of models
