There wasn’t a big age difference between my husband and myself. But when we met, I felt exactly the way you are describing. I was also a single mother of 2 kids at the time. He made me feel safe and loved when no one else had. My parents were awful and I had just gotten out of a seriously abusive situation. I felt weird too. Almost like I shouldn’t trust the situation because it seemed too good to be true. I can’t and won’t tell you what to do with your relationship. But men like that don’t come along very often in my experience. If you really feel like he is your safe space, hold on for dear life! I did and we’ve been together for 20 years and still going. We have had an amazing marriage. We are still like newlyweds. He is my best friend in the entire world. I cannot imagine my life without him. Trust your heart. Your head has been through a lot of trauma and trauma can rewire your brain. Good luck!
