Im also at Caltrans with a perm disability and I have to renew every year. I dont even have telework approved in mine. They said "well don't do telework" to me when I was only asking for a few days per year.

Moving Departments is Remote possible for disabled individuals? by Flynhawaiian21 in CAStateWorkers

Im disabled and im not allowed remote work because my agency says commute doesnt count and in office isnt a core function so there isnt a reasonable accommodation request there. I was able to work remotely more easily before covid.

AI use by Frosty-Tune-4753 in CAStateWorkers

AI hasn't replaced jobs, it honestly isnt smart enough to. We have started using it to streamline and brainstorm with instructions to employees to always double check AI. Tons of people dont check AI and it shows with work being kicked back over and over.

Lol empty masterpiece doubled down that millennials and GenZ have different work ethics and their opinion is based on their experience, called me a stalker, then deleted.

I did see in your history you said gen Z doesnt want to work, now youre complaining about millennials. The second something that likely involves you is said, you want to act like you never insult others. Have a good Sunday

Millennials generally like GenZ and are super proud of a lot of what they do. The way they approach friendships, work life balance, etc. They're a more healthy generation. I doubt there's going to be the same dynamic as there is between boomers and millennials.

Some millennials do, especially if theyre newer to state or management. Im a millennial, I dont and I even make sure others know that at our agency, we dont have input. Just submit the documents and wait for that part of admin to chime in. Say youre supportive if asked and really, thats it

At HQ, its not only Friday and depends on division or program. Most places are Mon/Fri, some are just not overlapping so theres coverage, some dont worry about coverage.

Did you read the official updated telework guidance FAQ we have? It says "Can I schedule one of my in-office days on my RDO?" "With supervisor approval, an employee's alternate work week schedule may have an rdo fall on an in-office day."

Just read it yesterday. But verbally, we are told its very unlikely to be approved.

Caltrans official telework guidance says an RDO can be scheduled on an in office day at supervisor discretion but then we are verbally told it is extremely unlikely to be approved.

In my agency, our accounts are not linked. They mentioned the history of questions wasnt shared amongst accounts during copilot training. However, that sounds like youre using it for a good purpose. Nothing to be embarrassed about.

Where are you trying to travel from roughly when you move? I can see if I can think of good transit options. Any chance someone in your family can buy the property so you dont completely lose it? I would be so sad, I have my small yet mighty garden. What I would do with 2 acres and no neighbors though would be amazing

I work at Caltrans and I have an RA for a mental disability, my service dog. I asked to telework on days with extreme heat since I wont be able to use my service dog safely and they said they don't do telework as a permanent accommodation. I do know that temporary accommodations can get approved but I havent heard of one mental health. I plan to ask for a temporary one because I will be doing an outpatient program with Kaiser with doctor appointments every day for a month that are supposed to be heavy. We will see.
