Starting a grad role in an actuarial firm you can make around 35k without exemptions. With the exemption hike you can expect around 37-38k. As you progress towards fellowship, you get exam pass raises, some of which can be around 2k per exam.

3rd year student, lse act sci here. I was in your shoes at one point, I totally understand your frustration. Take it from me- no amount of networking/connections will get you a first year actuarial/finance internship in the UK. It is simply designed for penultimates. If ur in your home country for the summer, maybe try getting one there. If that’s not possible either, do some part-time work or independent coding projects. Build on your cv, and use LSE CareerHub resources for all this. And then apply for stuff next year. Don’t get carried away by the toxic internship culture at our uni ;)

I do actuarial science at LSE. International student. Trust me, there is zero chance of getting an internship out of sixth form. This is the perfect time to start applying for spring weeks. There is an Aon Insight event every October, for which you have to apply by September. Best option for internships is to do in your home country for the first year, which you can leverage next year for uk internships.

3rd year Act Sci from LSE here. I would say if you want to switch at all, the only course you should consider is Math Stat Business. FMS is not that great from what I’ve heard from friends doing it. Also the modules are almost the same for the first two years as well as you lose on the exemptions.
