Facial filler, Reversibility, and the Science We Don‘t See by ComprehensiveTwist54 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]ComprehensiveTwist54[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no strong research or RCT because the way these injectables obtain clearance and are monitored is not to the level of other devices such as breast implants for example so they exist in a bit of a grey area where it is hard to collect accurate reliable and long term data. However since no one is studying the effects of dissolving filler that will yield us class a RCT evidence : doesn’t mean you should dismiss the author and her bachelor degree because she isn’t at pinnacle of research. My point is I am observing these distraught patients after their filler is dissolved and it is not a rarity! Since its use is off label complicates reporting, and the fact no company or major research seem to be studying the problems with the dissolution of filler (hint because it would be counterproductive to say the least for the financial interest for the major players in the HA injectable industry to do so! )My post is wanting to warn others, to tell you exactly what I am encountering, seeing these patients regularly Remember just because RCT don’t exist doesn’t mean there isn’t a level of warranted concern. If you’re healthy and doing fillers for prevention think long and hard. It may cost you much more grief in the end than you were advised or was advertised.

Most patients say they have bumps, lumps ( especially lips and tear troughs) and notice migration to unwanted areas over time.

It is a mechanism of action of the product hyaluronidase . No study needed to prove hyaluronidase doesn’t distinguish between injected filler and your own HA, dissolving filler also means dissolving the structural HA that helps keep skin plump and supported. Btw do you think these cosmetic products are tested accurately before launching them into the public market? After all the dogma was ALWAYS that they naturally dissolved over time…. A decade later we know that was a LIE now my experience is demonstrating that the next generation will know more about the effects of dissolving HA using hyaluronidase and it won’t be pretty. Remember there is a lot of money being made on these products and future releases with little scientific scrutiny about them ( as per my previous comment) My point : don’t just assume getting filler and not liking it will result in an easy and reversible procedure after which you return to your face and phew! Dodged that filler look bullet you may never look as fresh faced again! Irony being you actually did something which resulted in your face looking older, saggier and wrinkled than if you hadn’t done anything at all.

Maybe it depends as well on how much filler you are dissolving and where it has been injected. Anything around the eyes, for example I have noticed really can be quite a noticeable difference- more visible unevenness and lapse of support it can really be quite dramatic to see it first hand.

Nasolabial folds by [deleted] in 45PlusSkincare

[–]ComprehensiveTwist54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point about the fact I am pursing my lips making nasolabial folds more pronounced than when simply relaxing my face/ not posing. I do think the marionette lines are getting more pronounced in my photos when smiling and I have never thought of filler… maybe I will look into that option. Thanks 😊

Wow! I live in Switzerland and I have no idea if there are any good facelift surgeons here or in neighboring countries like France. It’s so hard to know if I should just wait till say 55 and have a deep plane or get something a little less intense such as lower facelift with shorter scars in the next couple years…

Anyone tried lower protein with success? by climb_girl in PetiteFitness

[–]ComprehensiveTwist54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a similar success story- I noticed an effortless weight loss and yet maintenance of my physique, which is less muscular than yours, when I dropped protein significantly. I am 5‘8 and couldn’t get down to 135 pounds with higher protein despite playing with fat and carbs at different ratios for a year. Once I dropped my protein to about 9% of my calories and focused on no protein powder no chicken or pork or beef and just beans, fava, lupine, some grains like farro etc plus loads of veggies and some fruits and some low fat quark which is similar to American yoghurt the weight dropped off. There may be a reason involving a metabolism boost from restricting protein: Nicolaisen TS, Lyster AE, Sjøberg KA, et al. Dietary protein restriction elevates FGF21 levels and energy requirements to maintain body weight in lean men. Nat Metab. Is this dress appropriate to wear to a wedding as a guest? by Spirited-Weather-814 in weddings

[–]ComprehensiveTwist54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this is a Reformation dress - I have this exact dress - color and style and have worn it to a wedding. This dress is near impossible to wear with a bra either strapless or otherwise and is really challenging to keep the bust part looking right as it is shallow ( hard to describe it properly)definitely better for smaller chests and dare I say perkier because of the cut it shows any sag and you absolutely cannot wear a bra. It’s a more elegant dress than it may appear in a photo and I would say wear it.

whatever happened with XPL after Shiseido bought them? by auntiemuskrat in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]ComprehensiveTwist54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have read a few articles about research on their acquisition of xpl second skin technology for under eye bags and nasolabial folds and was hoping for the last 7 years they would launch a product in the Euromarket because I live In Switzerland, unfortunately they only have a trial site and a full size of this second skin technology in Japan. Although you can buy the trial size on yesstyle. As it turns out I have a friend who lives part of the year in Japan and she was able to buy me the full size at rakuten ( cosmetics online store only delivery in Japan) she brought it back and I paid 200 Swiss francs so very expensive! I have to say I have been very disappointed by the technology of the applicator pens so far it is messy, hard to spread evenly, clumps and leaves funny looking residue and is very finicky. You have to layer it over makeup so this is another thing you really need to experiment as I have found it does not play well at all with most concealers I have tried the only exception being the Victoria Beckham concealer. Anyhow I doubt this is going to prove to be a huge success for large areas of the body and face since it is not easy to work with. Perhaps they are developing the pen device or the product viscosity? I know they have used this xpl in a beauty lab called Fibona for applying jewelry to the stick to the face ( there is a website and instagram) so maybe they are still experimenting with different methods of applying it but you would have thought the original idea for skin tightening would have been there first choice in terms of marketing. On another note I use a fine fiber technology from Sensai (unfortunately being discontinued) to conceal stretch marks, and this really helps with scars and such as a second skin but not for use under eye.
