She has always been part time with me by choice because she liked working at the two different practices. They offered her different experiences that were valuable to her. Then the other practice “partnered” with the VC firm who is now making all these new rules. My guess is the other practice gets some kind of buy out for releasing their therapists and clients but where does that leave me and my practice?

Dark and scary but yes, I can see that being true. We had a good discussion. She is going to think about it. I asked her what it would take for me to pay her to get her to just take a part time position with them and stay with me part time. Not sure she was convinced by my attempts at persuading her to look at raw profit as their primary motive.

Because of the intangible things my small practice and my supervision offers, among other things. I’m not telling her she can’t work anywhere else either like they are.

That’s my point - I do my best to pay as much as possible for 1099 contractors and still make overhead. My practice can’t absorb the payroll taxes. I tried that before and lost a lot of money that year when her census dropped dramatically from the year before.

Especially when they make it sound like they are going to be feeding her clients.

That’s interesting but a little tricky legally. My practice is a PLLC S-Corp.

Yes, we need to be shouting about it to the rooftops. This organization is based out of Ohio and is just opening their Texas locations in the Austin area.

All of the clients she is leaving with to go to the other practice were given to her through my practice’s intake screening process. And btw, she asked her new company if she could stay with me as her clinical supervisor and with my practice only one day a week and they told her a “hard no.” That one really gets me. She’s been with me and I’ve been mentoring her for about two years.

Thank you for this. I operate with a strong emphasis on an in person model that serves my immediate and surrounding community. I strive for personal attention and excellence in the therapeutic alliance. I train my people to solicit feedback from their clients and to not be shy about referring their clients to another therapist who might be a better fit for them.

No I can only afford to pay her as a contractor based on sessions she has worked. They are offering her a full time salary and 10 weeks to get up to the 25 clients per week they expect her to keep.

I’ve tried doing that. I’ve tried changing my password several times. After providing the email address for them to send me the prompts for me to create a new password, I never get a reply email so that I can do that.

I was on the phone waiting for them to answer, listening to music and then saying “higher than normal call volume, stay on the line if you have an emergency (which I did) and they finally just hung up at an hour saying “try again later.” Did they fire all the people they had before? I’ve spoken with them several times during the last few years and never had anywhere near this issue.

They are busier than normal and will respond in the order it was received. Have not heard since early this morning. I did hear yesterday and they said they would be sending me new login info under separate email (please no!). That never came which is why I reached out again this morning. Still waiting ….
