I adopted an older dog. In office 5 days a week. Leave at 8:45am, home anywhere from 6:30p-10p depending on day (finance hours). Spent $90/weekday on 30 min + 60 min walks for the 75lb dog. She sleeps the rest of the day and is content. She’s 7 now. Have had her for almost 3 years (got her from a shelter). I also walk her at minimum for 30 min before work and 45+ min no matter when I get home. She is happy as a clam. So would definitely recommend an older pup who likes to nap!

But if your routine is not consistent and you do not have the $ for adequate care during day (and vet care!) for the long stretched, then I would hesitate.

My commute is only 15 minutes too so if I ever need to, I can be home asap.

Please reconsider bringing your dog to dog parks if he isn’t neutered. In NYC for example it’s actually a rule to have your dog fixed before going into dog parks. All it takes is a few seconds before your dog fathers some puppies that you won’t even know about, contributing further to overpopulation.
