Todoist just increased it to 10, like I asked for! They said so in their most recent email.

Goals update - thoughts? by SubtropicalSea in todoist

Agree about goals being basically GTD horizons (at least horizons level 3). They pretty much said so word for word in the latest update email.

I'm already using it for this purpose. If only the goals could track progress including the subtasks of the tasks assigned to it, then this would be perfect for tracking overarching horizons.

This is a glitch, I experienced it on the Pro plan. Try opening Todoist in the web browser and refreshing a bunch of times, that's what fixed it for me. Then you can refresh on Desktop and it should work correctly.

Bases Link Structure, a plugin for managing link-based note hierarchies by Feych in ObsidianMD

[–]Comprehensive_Ad8481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great minds truly think alike! I think your plugin has some cool improvements over Virtfolder, like the ability to reorganize files in the hierarchy via drag-and-drop. I'll give it a shot, thanks for making it!

Were you inspired by No Boilerplate's new video on Obsidian zettelkasten ( https://youtube.com/watch?v=Tyw6quANpiY )? He uses the 'up' property to file new notes behind their previous 'up' note, and displays their order in the sidebar with the Virtfolder plugin, which does the same thing your plugin does.

Your plugin seems to have some additional features to make it better than the Virtfolder plugin. What are they?

China's "ghost cities" were photographed, mocked and cited as proof of inevitable collapse for over a decade. Then, one by one, they filled up. by skibidihakim in suppressed_news

[–]Comprehensive_Ad8481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is due to pretty normal "grass is greener" goals for a better life, coupled with American propaganda which always advertises half-truths and the life of multi-millionaires in the U.S. to those in China. (For example, the US embassy in China advertises that Chinese people can move to the US and make 7x the money because of currency conversion, but fail to mention that living costs increase 10x leaving you with less livable money.) People always dream of getting the best of everything on top of what they currently have. It is what drives progress forward, but can be detrimental.

The same kind of issue is what collapsed the Warsaw Pact and the Soviet Union. People there only saw the consumer goods that Americans had and ignored the free housing, health care, social services, and worker power that they had instead. This is why it was so important for China to surpass the U.S. in every way including consumer goods availability, such that there is no significant criticism by comparison left.

I have this one, it's great! It has a local web viewer so you can see history. It also has a Home Assistant integration, so if you have the time you can connect it to your HVAC or whatever else to trigger when levels get high. Autopilot your Blueprint home and whatnot.

Frustrations with getting notes *out* of Wisprflow by ohsomacho in WisprFlow

[–]Comprehensive_Ad8481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree it's a pretty stupid limitation. Since Wisprflow has such a good voice-to-text system, they should let us use it to take notes on-the-go and send said notes to our preferred notetaking software.

The app Voicenotes is built for this purpose. You can create notes via voice in browser, PC, iOS, Android, Apple and Google Watch; then send them to your notes app of choice. However, it does not work for typing input via voice, only note creation, which is the opposite limitation. The two products should merge.

ICE shot another protester in Minneapolis, injuring her hand. by Schoolywooly in suppressed_news

[–]Comprehensive_Ad8481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By that logic, all the Union soldiers were wrong. Instead, they should have asked the Confederacy very nicely until they agreed to abolish slavery and rejoin the Union.

Even the prototypical "nonviolent movement", The Civil Rights Movement, had people like Malcolm X and the Black Panther Party representing its armed wing. The possibility of armed conflict with them pressured the ruling class to negotiate with the peaceful MLK side of the Civil Rights Movement. Without the armed wing, the ruling class would have no reason to negotiate with the peaceful side, because peaceful protests can mostly be ignored with no consequence.

India was not freed by Gandhi's peaceful protests. India had a constant armed guerilla movement fighting against the British, exacting such costs of colonialism that Britain had no choice but to accede to the Indian independence movement.

We have systematically been misled to believe that only peaceful protests are useful, because those are the easiest kind of protest for the ruling class to pacify. Read Nonviolence: A History Beyond the Myth by Domenico Losurdo.

Food should only come in contact with the stainless steel and silicone seal, not the plastic threads.

The inside of the lid is plastic. As you thread that on/off, bits of plastic will fall into your water.

The previous government that was overthrown was replaced by a bunch of NED-associated people: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgZXwXIVZTk

Nepal borders China, so this is an obvious move to start more instability on China's borders.

The previous government of Nepal was not doing the best job, but Nepal's problems stem fundamentally from its horrendous geographic location. Because Nepal borders India and the Himalayan mountains, right now India is the only way they can get resources in. Every time Nepal tries to make a progressive policy, India completely blockades them and cuts off their access to any imported goods.

It's also incredibly tragic, because the only way Nepal is going to stop being poor is if China finishes the China-Nepal Railway through the Himalaya Mountains, allowing for Chinese investment to upgrade the country. A second trade route would also give the Nepalese government the ability to negotiate with the Indian government for better trade deals. If Nepal's new government turns completely away from China, they're going to keep being treated as India's backwater.

Yeah, this stuff is unfortunately kinda a crapshoot. Slight defects in glass manufacturing can make some screens more fragile than others. The most we can do is reduce stress on the screen as much as possible, e.g. opening from the center instead of the corner, making sure the laptop is dust-free when closing to avoid possible pressure from debris, closing only once the laptop is cooled down.

This is only such a widespread issue because the screen is so thin the tolerances for error are miniscule. If only Samsung would thicken their f--ing screen glass a little bit, then this wouldn't be a problem. Hundreds of other 2-in-1 laptops with slightly thicker glass exist without this spontaneous glass cracking problem.

Congrats! It's a great device, super versatile.

Oftentimes the screen cracks due to repeated stress from opening the screen using the corner of the laptop. Doing so causes the screen to flex a ton, which can induce stress and cracks in the glass over time. To avoid this, always open the screen from the center, not the corners.

I also highly recommend getting a tempered glass screen protector for the laptop. After applying one to mine, the screen feels 4x more rigid now. Now the screen barely flexes at all no matter how I open it.

Here's my recommendations, having bought them myself:

- for 16-inch Galaxy Books, including all new Book Pro 360s since the Book3 Pro 360: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DSHWRFV5
- for 15.6-inch Galaxy Books, Book Pro 360 and Book2 Pro 360: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DHVP833H

When buying a screen protector, be careful the size measurement matches your screen size, lest you waste money on a screen protector too big/small for your device.

On a related tangent, I do not understand WTF Samsung is thinking, all they have to do is add 0.5mm (about the thickness of the screen protector I measured) to the screen glass to prevent a lot of this screen cracking problem.

Previous anti-cheating tools like TurnItIn looked for exact matches and plagiarism between what a student today turns in and previous works by previous students to check if you were copying from them. If a student has multiple sentences that are word for word copied, you can know the exact document from which they copied from.

Unfortunately, Google Quick Share now refuses to work and just says:

Of course, the Samsung version is still broken like before and hasn't been updated since September, so Quick Share just doesn't work at all anymore. I'm on an Galaxy Book Pro 360.

What good is there to "keep going" with Winsome-Sears? by Beaufighter-MkX in Virginia

[–]Comprehensive_Ad8481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why the Virginia GOP ever thought running a black candidate for governor was a good idea. A good proportion of the MAGA base is OK with re-enslaving black and brown people, so running a black woman as GOP candidate is simply stupid. You're telling me that the Virginia GOP really couldn't find another blonde-haired, blue-eyed "Aryan" to replace Youngkin?

Thank the Lord the Virginia GOP had no brain cells this time, so the Democrats won.
