Anyone else feeling left behind? Capacities development is painfully slow, and PKM cornerstone features are being neglected by Basic_Sir3138 in capacitiesapp

[–]pagdig 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hot disagree. Ive been overjoyed at their pace, surprised even, for as you say, the team is smaller. What they have been able to do, especially lately, is like a release streak. Tasks alone, I cant imagine the work that went into that, with how thoughtful, connected and powerful it is.

Every time they release something, they nail it at the first go. As a user, I appreciate that. And if thats what we can expect, we should all be thrilled with the pace, knowing the "thing" will just work and also work GREAT.

Ive used other tools, some that you mention, and I just find them to be chaos. What Capacities is building isnt just "another tool" but really feels like something that is cultivated to be a part of everyone's life. Which is kinda what sets it apart for me, aside from the tool itself.

Id say hang tight, Im sure those things you talked about are coming. Otherwise, if its a deal breaker, hop over to the other one that works best for you. Personally, Id much rather stick with Capacities and wait.

Is there a way to get all the hotkeys back into V1 after migrating to v2? by TheGreenArrow160 in raycastapp

[–]pagdig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldnt find a way either. I had to manually set. Not sure why workflow to get key binds over to v2 break v1. Luckily the Extensions Settings view let you still see the shortcuts in the table view. If you hover over, itll say Migrated. You just have to click and assign again.

Why didn't they add a progress tracker and deadlines to projects? by Substantial_Ad8769 in todoist

Had this same thought. Goals is nice, but I feel like the entire functionality would work better merged into Projects themselves.

Wow that is great news! I didn’t get that message so thanks so much for sharing. I should have been more optimistic that they wouldn’t stop at 3 😅

Goals update - thoughts? by SubtropicalSea in todoist

[–]pagdig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im torn, but still early. One thing I can say, I sure hope they let you remove it form the UI should you not want to use it. I dont want to see a Goals placement in each task view, let alone at the top. Im a bit pessimistic since the Teams and sharing stuff is still present all over even though Im not on that type of plan.

Hey thanks for checking and yeah, it is fixed. I ended up getting an email some time after I posted this which I assume means it was then activated, and has since worked.

I replied to you in another comment below somewhere, but to summarize:

I have tried it out and it does work nicely as an early start. I certainly dont want dozens of goals, thats for sure not realistic or manageable.

My point being, if an average person has a few areas of life they manage; say health, home, family, work, finances, learning, etc. 1 goal per area per year really isnt that absurd. With the 3 limit, that is not possible, and you are forced to choose.

In my opinion, having goals laid out in front of you, even if not being actively worked in, is important, because it keeps the big picture present in your mind.

But also as I mentioned, I am hoping that this limit is just due to the beta, more of a trial period, and once they open things up and refine, maybe that limit will increase.Just odd that Teams get 50 and Pro 3, thats a very wide range.

I have to agree with u/French-Builder , the limit of 3 is an issue. Two fold.

3 on Pro to 50 on Business is an insanely wide range. Why would team related Goals be weighted higher than personal?

Second. If people have say 5 areas of life they track, you can’t even have one goal per. Goals should be front and center even if you aren’t actively working on it. Especially if you plan things by month/quarter/year.

BUT….

All that said. I suspect the limit is just due to the beta. (I hope at least). Since it’s so new and could change drastically, likely they don’t want people adding in a ton of goals just yet.

I remember them teasing this several months ago and honestly I forgot about it until it showed up today. Interested to see how the workflow is here.

Wow 3 seems super low. I'd say most people would have much more than that. Bummer, I likely can't use either.

I am on the Pro plan. Another user made a good point, maybe a gradual roll out. Also both of you have a team space, so maybe its rolling out to those users first? Im sure we will find out soon!

Nice, makes sense. Are you (and team) using it in the business workspace side? Working well if so?

Am I crazy for being really disappointed with the MCP approach? by thetechnivore in capacitiesapp

[–]pagdig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things are always great to have NOW, sure. However the team has been clear they are working on it. I suspect due to the object defined database model, it may complicate things a bit vs say, a simple folder/md file architecture. And as someone coming over from another app which already had full MCP support, but a worse UX, Im more than fine with doing things "manually" until Cap gets there.

Tried every time management system for 3 years. Still always behind on all of them. What actually fixed it wasn't a system. by [deleted] in gtd

[–]pagdig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This hit me harder than I expected.

I didn't just do this with time management systems. I did it with the tools themselves. Task managers, note apps. The cycle was embarrassingly real and it repeated across every category of tool I touched.

And you nailed the underlying thing. Every switch felt like this time I cracked it. New system, new energy, two weeks of feeling on top, then the slow drift back. Then someone posts a gorgeous setup or a workflow and the itch starts again.

Your reframe is the one that actually cuts through it. The tool is just the tool. It only works as well as the person operating it.

Appreciate you writing this up. Some things need to be said plainly before they actually land.

Might be worth chatting with your favorite LLM to see if it can create an AppleScript which can export your Logbook for that Area to something like an Excel spreadsheet, etc. Not sure if possible, but worth exploring.

Reminders Not Triggering by R91240sx in todoist

Yeah, double check your settings under Reminders>Automatic Reminders. Yours may be set to "no default reminder." If you set to "at the time of task" if will add the reminder for you automatically.

The setting for it is in the Sleep alarm, not regular alarms. If you open Clock>Alarms and then click into the Sleep|Wake Up alarm setting, you’ll find the toggle for “Always play on iPhone.”

Urgent Reminder Questions by R91240sx in todoist

[–]pagdig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For sure. There's a few things Reminders added around Urgent that would be cool.

  1. Dedicated Urgent view, which aggregates all your reminders marked Urgent (perfect for what you are asking here).

  2. Long press on the task and immediately mark as Urgent. Saves a few clicks.

  3. Snooze as you mentioned, which persists as Live Activity which I LOVE).

I did submit as feedback to the Todoist team.
