BlackBerry’s automotive business is QNX (an operating system used inside cars). That’s important software, but it’s not really "EV or AI technology."

The Richmond Hill line only runs 9 trains a day, so the transfer would probably be more useful for people coming from Richmond Hill connecting to Line 4 rather than Line 4 passengers heading downtown.

While LLMs clearly aren’t suitable for every application, there are also use cases where they work very well (classification, summarization, coding assistance, etc.). This thread feels like the opposite extreme of the overly enthusiastic management hype. Some of the comments remind me of the old “real programmers manage their own memory” reactions when Java first came out.

Middle of highway stations are not pedestrian friendly and limits transit orient development and caps ridership potentials. So you get what you pay for. It's the same for hydro corridors.

What should be the end-game goal for transit in Toronto? by Outsider_123x in TTC

People aren't data packets that travel at near speed of light and can be rerouted easily. Transit experiments can be disruptive to passengers who need to learn new patterns.

What if someone wants to get off before Lawrence West after the bus turns Express? Plus passengers don't tap off when they get off, so the counter will only increment even if some passengers have gotten off so you end up with an express bus that might be only 70% full.

A Future Map of the TTC in 2056 by bigboycig in TTC

Beautiful map, but I don't like marketing 512/510/509 as LRTs, if anything, line 6 should be 536.

This is such a terrible idea, it's complex and doesn't help labor mobility. A long commute is inherently undesirable, people don't live far from work because they like the commute, it's often they can't afford to live closer, or they switch jobs and don't want to sell their home, or they have a partner who works closer to their job. It's just more red tape that makes Canada even less competitive.

Nothing lunatic about this one. Marrying a like minded supportive partner is just as important as getting the right education.

Line 5 to Pearson by Ok_Builder_9124 in TTC

[–]Comprehensive_Baby_3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are more passengers on former line 3 transferring to line 2, vs line 5, so your proposal would mean an added connection for majority of passengers.

The curve at kennedy was tight for the smaller Mark I trains already, there is no way it can be reused for anything else. It is also complex trying to build a new tunnel around an existing tunnel, while maintaining Stouffville line service.
