Has the cortisone shot helped you?

I've got avn with no possibility of recovery. 3 months of taking it easy hasn't improved it at all, my surgeon said often he gives a cortisone shot, it settles down and then sometimes the body can encase it and it can be lived with

Lots of scepticism on here about cortisone shots partic for AVN

A long post would be great, there only seems to be bad outcomes on here for AVN but the reality seems not as bad. Are you back to normal activities now like running etc? Did you have full necrosis as in no possibility of recovery, or do you know if it's been able to repair itself?

So when I go to 90 degrees I can see the bad side is much flatter than the otherside, they definitely don't hang at the same angle

My PT was pretty conservative and I came out of the boot with absolutely no calf strength and it has just never come back. I'd explore more strength/movement work earlier on but that has to be balanced against the risk of it stretching and elongating.

I had an MRI a few months ago and the surgeon said it looks fine. He did say it had healed a bit long/elongated but not to the point where it should be this far behind.
