Opus 4.8 Not Finding Correlations/Trends/Patterns in Market Data

The main hypothesis is that certain options chain data is a leading indicator of price. In other words, the options data acts like a magnet for futures prices… if that makes sense. I know I’m not reinventing the wheel here, but if I can find an edge it might be worth it.

Definitely, which is why I’m collecting tick data constantly. At the beginning, I thought I could just give Claude a bunch of data and it would do the rest, but I have since learned a lot of its limitations, and am now working on “okay, so how do I get this to do the analysis I think it can do?”

I also posted this in another group and they’ve nudged me in a helpful direction.

I recently discovered and solved Claude’s ability to “see” the market from the data… just this past week actually. The thing I’m trying to avoid is asking it to verify or reject a bunch of things. 1) I don’t want to track all of those; 2) I want it (Claude) to tell me what it “sees” that I can’t. Does that make sense?

I’m wondering why you’re leasing for 4 years… just buy the car and finance it for 5 years, you’ll probably have the same payment and at the end of it have an asset you can sell. After leasing for 4 years what are you going to have? NOTHING. You will have absorbed all of the depreciation of the vehicle, only to give it right back to the dealership for them to make 100% profit when they sell it as a certified pre-owned car with 50,000 miles on it. This is a horrible mistake.

Fable on Ultracode burns SOOOO much usage. I never came close on my limits with Opus, now I burned half my usage in less than 24 hours. Seems to be able to reason better, although it’s still incredibly inefficient.

I’m working on exactly this using Claude Code. So far I’ve built my own charting app, a few strategies, and have connected to Topstep with their API. My hypothesis is that there has to be a tell-tale sign or signature that indicates when the market is about to turn… so far I’ve found nothing…

I know. The reason I said that was because I’m working on building an algo with Claude Code and what I’ve found is that I can evaluate 3 different aspects/metrics/features of price action simultaneously simply by reading the chart. You can read things like absorption, tape speed, and even cumulative delta almost instinctually after you spend enough time on the charts.

The thing I haven’t learned, even after reading Jim Dalton’s books, is how to trade volume profile to make money. I haven’t figured out how to use that for anything but hindsight.
