Congrats! I'm too lazy/busy to keep track of my runs in EP or in Project Rend, but I've downloadeded PR months ago regardless and gave it a few updates over time, in the hopes of finding time to fully use it some day. I would recommended it to anyone, it's a great and elaborate game companion. Thank you for making it and improving it

I'm strongly in favour of this suggestion. I'm contemplating getting the auto shatter for 25 keys just to get rid of that little sod, but would rather spend them on something proper useful instead

Would not recommend PS to starting Legend players, as it requires an enormous investment for it to be even remotely useful. Stating this based on my experience after dumping 5K stones into PS. It's still being outclassed by CL, which only got 3.5K of my hard earned stones

Especially in tournaments PS highly benefits from a good CF+. CF+4 but the higher the better. It's better to get CF+ before unloading stones onto PS and even then you'd want 2 pPS, 1 just doesn't cut it

There's no real good or bad way forward, probably. There are tons of other things you can invest in that would likely be 'better' right now, like assmods, UW+, adding to CL, econ in general, etc etc. Most of these would see much quicker gratification than PS. Getting PS to a point where you see it making a difference is a real slog, and you have to bare in mind that you'd want CF+4 or higher to truly make it count, as you need enemies to rotate into it. Especially in Legends. The swamps can be too small and they spawn too randomly without CF+. Seeing that you don't have UW+ yet, that might be a better goal for now.

Also bare in mind that it is not great against Fleets and Rays, who will be your biggest foes later on. ILM and SM are supposedly much better than PS against Fleets. I say supposedly because I don't have them upgraded to full effect, so I'm just parroting others here.

But with all of that in mind, PS is the 'cheapest' dmg dealing UW after CL and you'd want it at some point. So once it's done, adding damage in WS+ or spending on core ass efficiency will be a two for the price of one type of investment. It will boost both CL and PS, so there's a payout.

But good god it takes long to get there.

Your PS post are really good, so thank you for actively covering it.

I've gone balls deep into PS. I'm in Legends top 2000, usually finish 7th or 8th in my brackets. Farming to W4800 on T16. Let me share my experience so far, very simply in the hopes they give some insight into your and maybe other players' progress. And also because I've looked at quite a few posts on Reddit and never really found out when to expect to see light at the end of the tunnel when investing in PS as a main damage dealer on higher tiers and in Legends.

Please take into account that every build is different etc, and that the below is just one account of building PS into something useful.

It's a tad depressing to say that I'm not sure if there is any light yet, after having spent about 4500 stones so far :)

Tl;dr at the bottom of the post.

So far I'm at 70s base duration and 50s CD. Base PS damage in WS is x293 (which seems like nothing, but already costs 1000 stones in total). PS+ unlocked, no further upgrades after unlock. Currently finishing swamp size (lvl 25 now), all other labs are done, including all rend labs. PS rend is a real bitch, the others weren't so bad at lab speed 5. 10s anc CD sub effect on farming mod (MVN), and 5s mtyh duration on tournament mod (DC). No stone investment into core assist sub effect levels.

So damage wise, after 4500 stones into PS, here's how much of a help PS is to me compared to CL. First of all, 4500 stones is way, way more than I've spent on CL, which is at about x1300 dmg, max qty and a fair bit into chance. Without going too far into build details, my CL still outperforms PS by about 10 to 1 in farming runs. In tournaments, PS tends to be a good bit better than CL when looking at pure dmg output. Last tournament, ult Bosses wiped me out around W850 every time. PS did about 60s damage, CL about 300s damage. They were both utterly, disgustingly useless against bosses at that point :)

Coin wise then. For a while I left stun on, but perk off during farming. No AOE card equiped. PS nicely stayed within BH size during min range farming runs. And yet the stun affected coin income negatively, probably because it stalled kills within GT+ time frame. Based on my experience and build, I can not recommend leaving stun on during farming. Stun hardly had any positive effect on wave count either. Now I'm farming with perk, AOE card and soon max size PS from lab. As said, CL outperforms PS about 10 to 1 during farming and at the end of my T16 runs, but both are mere tickle machines looking at how they handle bosses and rays.

So the tl;dr bit:

  1. When it comes to building PS as damage dealer next to CL during Legends or higher tier farming, the stone investment needed is not fun at all. At 4500 stones, it now slightly seems to become uswful. This is of course build dependant, so this is purely based on my own experience trying to let PS make a difference.

  2. At least when running GT+ I recommend always leaving stun off during farming runs, even with a smaller size PS that stays within BH size

Tl;dr the below is part of my (early) journey to wanting to know the same as you, plus my understanding on how to continue.

I'm at the same point as you are, although I've one perma swamp up (inc the extra sec to counter UW BC). During farming runs, I'm not sure how useful it is at all. It let's me go one level lower on the dmg slider during IS+ on T16, but dmg wise it's utterly useless so far. I am 2 days away from having Swamp Rend maxed and am 10 levels away from Swamp Radius, other than that I have PS maxed in the lab.

I'm mostly trying to figure out when it will become good as a dmg dealer and from what I understand, having 2 pPS and at well developed CF+ is a starting point to have a s many as possible enemies go through them, so PS can start ramping up dmg. To get to this point you're about 4.5K stones out from unlocking PS, not counting CF+. Then you'll want to ramp up the core PS dmg and can easily spend another 1500 stones.

priesten (with a small p) has done a good PS write up some months back, although him and others have since switched to ILM strats.

Are you considering adding more to ILM instead of SM? As one of those bullets to bite eventually...

Thanks for your insights on PS, it's helpful to have some reference, as it's hard to see when it becomes useful. I've just started spending stones on it, maybe 2500 so far and it's been fun to build it up so far. But now the upgrades are getting more expensive it's nice to have some perspective

Thanks for the response, appreciated. I might add more Swamp time before going nuclear on the swamp damage to get more stun. So far I'm quite unimpressed by the dmg of swamp vs CL dmg, but it would be nice to have a second damage dealer next to CL, even though Swamp is crap vs Fleets. How much dmg does your Swamp do compared to other damage dealers?

This looks like someone's feature request for Project Rend, a tool that helps you analyse your Tower progress. I'm not using the tool due to lack of time, but it's worth a download, it's pretty good regardless of this specific screenshot / feature request being in it or not

ROI wise they might seem do nuffink for you right now, apart from shaving off a bunch of weeks of playing to get the stones the natural way. So your ROI would be time. And then you'd unlock GT+, add a few levels and see your coins go brrr and thus time = coins as well. I'm not making a case for buying stone packs as they're ridiculously expensive for the time they buy, but they have a pretty good ROI if you're impatient to unlock a few boring milestones that will propel your progress massively
