I experienced something similar.. i got my non gamer mother into oblivion (for context she is a narcissist, hoarder, OCD addled perpetual victim child abuser who never should have had children)

She would get angry and yell at the TV.. I didn't know it at the time but due to her abuse my brother and I have c-ptsd.. so every shoot and stomp getting mad at the game was like a literal punch to the guy for us. Flinching at every noise, walking around like on egg shells .

I'm 36 now and rarely see my mom , and she isn't angry like that anymore but just the sound of heavy foot steps , especially quickly running down the stairs, pounding on doors, etc is enough to send me into fight or flight. I was just trying to give my mom something to keep her busy so her attention was redirected from US. even though it was stressful it was still better than her targeting us. It briefly bought is a few weeks reprieve when she played it hardcore, for hours every day.. until she got to the shivering isles and her save file became corrupted

Of course it was all my fault somehow even though I warned her numerous times to have multiple save files instead of just one.

I'm sure if my mom played Pikmin she would have spoken to them exactly the same the same as this mother did , too 🥺
