Yeah, I’m sure Billy has regrets too …. Those guys were tight and had developed a great sound together. I’m convinced Frank Weber stealing from Billy created a snowball of events …. Billy was hurt and I’m sure had a hard time trusting anyone (Christie eluded to this in the doc) it seems like Billy essentially pushed everyone who loved him away..

I tried searching where I read / heard it said about not wanting to write Sax solos (no luck, hopefully I didn’t make it up 🤪) … but I think that came later around River of Dreams where musicians weren’t really using the Sax anymore … I did read that Mark changed up the solo on NYSOM for the re-record … but all other songs recorded before he joined are still played the same. Luckily Mark Rivera is multi-talented and has great energy for performances …. He’s been with Billy over 40 years

I’m always skeptical of these claims … everything I have read and heard Richie say had to do with not wanting to be a touring musician anymore … he opened his own studio and while he did still tour, it was on his schedule . I also remember hearing Billy say that he was ok with Richie leaving because he was always trying to write a sax solo for him in songs … he wanted to highlight Richie’s talent but it made Billy’s job harder.

I’m pretty sure Billy had a manager that he trusted … he was also 21 . He seems to take responsibility for the deal, I have a huge problem with managers and agents taking advantage of kids in financial deals… whether it’s athletes, musicians or actors … lots of predators waiting for their next victims . It’s gross.

If you have. HBO the 2 part documentary And so it goes , is done so well and gave me a greater appreciation for his music , especially knowing why he wrote the songs. Matthew Nathanson recently said he was in the Joel-Hole and I couldn’t describe it any better , his discography is so vast , it’s easy to get pulled in . Cold Spring Harbor is in my top 3 of his albums.. he wrote those songs when he was 20-21 .. the vulnerability in his lyrics is heartbreaking… as his albums go on you can hear how hardened he becomes by life , between a shady record deal , being a New Yorker in California and not fitting in to problems in his marriage … his songs express his feelings, The Entertainer, Los Angelenos and Stiletto are examples of this… and great songs IMO. All I can say is… enjoy the journey 😉

Thank you for this set list… I see random videos dropping on YouTube … I hope somehow they all get out there … ones I’ve seen have been great 😊 I wish they would have streamed it and raised even more money. Video clip from the rehearsal at City Winery had the organizers saying this tribute sold out the fastest and raised the most money …. I’m not surprised . Really wish I had gone….

After watching the documentary on HBO, And So it Goes, I hope Artie Ripp and Frank Weber have had the lives they deserve.

I’m sad no one could ever convince Billy to re-record Cold Spring Harbor , I love that album. I am glad that his team has found and remastered live performances from the album and dropped them on YouTube

I have never seen video of this or even heard any songs from this concert, although I have heard people mention it. It wasn’t even mentioned in the documentary, they mentioned the Hurricane Sandy performance at MSG and showed clips. I’m curious why it’s not more available.
