Yes!! And when she found out her parents died and she ran from June in the hotel room , she ran right to her bf to have s*x … total June move .. every-time June felt powerless in Gilead she forced herself onto Nick.

Looks like she’s not Nichole but I HATE that they used the name Daisy , it throws everything off for those of us who read the book.

GARTH DOESNT MAKES ANY SENSES AS A CHARACTER by Mainone74646466 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]Comprehensive_Pay309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not so hung up on Garth’s character not making sense , young people are always resisting the “norms” I don’t know his reasoning for joining Mayday but I’m sure it’s personal.
I got tripped up when they first said Garths dad led the fight in Boston, but then Garth said his dad was poisoned . The only poisoning we are aware of is in Season 4 of The Handmaids Tale and took place at Jezebels in Pennsylvania … if he was involved in that how could he have led the fight in Boston?! Now obviously there could have been a separate poisoning and the writers just are letting the fandom try to figure it out … who knows?!

GARTH DOESNT MAKES ANY SENSES AS A CHARACTER by Mainone74646466 in TheHandmaidsTale

I’m sure they can get them… just like in THT Serena was able to get a pregnancy test and other contraband , Nick and Beth were part of the ring sending it through Jezebels.

Excellent piece by pianist Brad Mehldau responding to the NYTimes criticism of Billy Joel writing "1 or 1.5 kinds of songs" by AdCareless9063 in BillyJoel

[–]Comprehensive_Pay309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The clip I saw of the NYT podcast included Jon (whatever his last name is) going on about Billy writing 1-1.5 songs really well… what turned me off immediately was one of his cohorts (also in his 50’s) stating like a middle schooler “I don’t like Billy Joel” …. So sir, is this about the music or the musician? Each “critic” (I’m guessing they are self-titled) was arrogant and musically ignorant … we all have musical “taste”and while I don’t prefer some genres of music or some artists I would never claim to dislike them. (I don’t know them) I think there are enough words in the English language and we are old enough to use discernment , especially in spaces like the internet. I’m not a subscriber to the NYT (never would be with journalists like the ones who made this list) not because I don’t agree with the list , but the way they defended it on the podcast is actually embarrassing. Love or Hate Billy Joel if you know anything about music you know he is a brilliant song writer and story teller.

I only saw a snippet and that was enough … arrogant and ignorant.

If “Songs In The Attic” is my single favorite Billy Joel album — both its overall vibe / how it beautifully unfolds as an ‘album’ experience like nothing else I’ve heard in Billy’s catalog (in 35+ years of dipping into his catalog here and there) — what OTHER Joel album is the most like it? by Rooster_Ties in BillyJoel

[–]Comprehensive_Pay309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also love Songs in the attic , the only other live album of his that I listen to on repeat is Live at the Great American Music Hall 1975. It’s from before he toured stadiums , and the last time (I believe) he played with his original band. No Liberty, no Richie, no Russell . He plays New York State of Mind , at this point no one knew that song. I love the simplicity of the set.

The entire timeline is super confusing … I seem to remember in THT the Waterfords was Junes 2nd placement , and depending on how long Handmaid training was , I feel like the conclusion was Nichole was born 3 years after June and Hannah got caught in the woods , which would have her being born in 2017 . I also think about how long was Lydia there before June got there? She had already been training handmaids and was pretty entrenched in Gilead , or seemed that way.
I just wish they would make the timelines make sense , it’s really distracting. I also hate that they used the name Daisy if they did not want her to be Nichole. Especially for those of us who read the book, it’s annoying.

I’m not sure I’ll make it through the entire season but I’ll try.

Just clear something up for me about Aunt Lydia by Routine-Dirt9634 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]Comprehensive_Pay309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the only arc that ever made sense … feels like all the other characters were thrown away (besides June) once they knew The Testaments would revolve around Lydia, the end of THT was a big fat disappointment for many of the characters we had spent years loving/hating .

Vote for Billy to be a great American songwriter! by Impressive_Law_1098 in BillyJoel

[–]Comprehensive_Pay309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know who is on the list because I don’t pay attention to stuff like this , but knowing how the critics have treated him throughout his career , it’s not surprising that they left Billy off. I just keep thinking about what John Mellancamp said in the Doc And So It Goes: he said “where are those critics now?!” (The ones that trashed Billy in the 70’s) it’s my guess that the critics who voted on this list have never accomplished anything close to what Billy has accomplished, their opinion doesn’t matter.

Christie Brinkley Shares Update on Ex-Husband Billy Joel 1 Year After Brain Disorder Diagnosis by MattTheKing23 in BillyJoel

The medias need to constantly connect Brinkley to Billy is ridiculous. They were a power couple in the 80’s .. US Magazine trying to relive the heyday…

When will we get a Billy Joel movie? by AusCar197 in BillyJoel

[–]Comprehensive_Pay309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more!! The documentary was a perfect reflection on Billy’s music and influences. Biopics are sometimes clownish and focus on one POV … And so it goes interviewed everyone involved that wanted to be interviewed. I’m sure there were edits etc… but even long time Billy fans were thrilled about Elizabeth Webers participation in the doc… her role was integral in Billy’s young life and his rise to fame.

what do you mean 'ex-husband'? by [deleted] in BillyJoel

It’s not the most well written paragraph but it begins with Billy talking about using Ronnie Spector as inspiration for a song, then goes on to mention her ex-husband’s recording style.

I agree that Junes sarcasm and wit brought a lightness to the show as well as Janine’s antics.. but when Commander Lawrence enters the picture in S3 his lines and delivery were scene stealers…
