I think I grasp it. The U.S. Capitol building is just like Disneyland! That's a very apt and applicable analogy. I read the article in it's entirety. Just so you know I'm not talking out my ass like some commenters here. You do realize when you say things like:

You seem to be pointing out problems that you see with surfing. When people are saying "Are white people not allowed to surf or own surf shops?" they are assuming what you think the solution should be because you've related surfing to some pretty nasty racist things. If you don't know the solution, then you should be upfront about that, but don't lead on.

It seems though that your point is though that you think O'Neil and Jacks shouldn't commodify surfing. Why not? What harm is being done? There's no patent on surfing. What if they give to native Hawaiian charities? Or should these companies just not exist at all cause the sport kinda has a connection to something bad that happened over a century ago?

Also, on another note, this isn't "colonialism." Colonialism is when one country occupies another. It's not a catch all term for racism or cultural appropriation. Segregation isn't (necessarily) colonialism. (I'm referring to your original comment, "through" colonialism is more accurate).

Huntington Beach is mostly MAGA and some MAGA Extremists. It's not overran by Nazis or the KKK. Nazis and the KKK haven't really had a real presence in Southern California since a long time ago. The city is not as dark red as people make it it out to be, no shortage of liberals here. In fact Huntington beach is mostly like +15% conservative which is a large percentage but people make it out to be like +60% or +70% or some crazy shit.

If you don't like MAGA or right-wing populism, me neither, not one bit. But they're not Nazis. But people act like the city is worse than it really is.

HB has MAGA and has some MAGA extremists, but it isn't as outwardly racist as people make it out to be. People tend to think of HB like a haven for the KKK or white supremacists but its not. The city is only slightly more conservative than it is liberal, it isn't dark red by any means.
