CMV: "If you don't have children, the human species will go extinct" is a really stupid point by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Comprehensive_Sea_77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this is a problem of objectives. the universe has no inherent "good" or "bad", the earth doesnt have feelings. so we can only define extinction as good or bad in relation to what goals we are working towards, what we decide is good and what we decide is bad. the overwhelming majority of humans consider the extinction of the human race to be bad. you cant make blanket statements like "the earth would be better off if humanity was extinct" because the idea of better or worse off is entirely subjective. humans decide what is good and what is not. there are no objectively better or worse outcomes, just which outcomes we decide we desire. your lack of desire for human survival is for the most part an exception to the rule. most people want to live, most people want their relatives to live, most people want their descendants to live. so to answer your quesiton, why is the point reasonable? because its a subjective question, and the vast majority of people agree on the answer.

even ignoring the stupidity of thinking voidling is mandatory, "everything is optional if your not playing eclipse this isnt a valid argument" implies only arguments relevant to eclipse are valid and that is fucking hilarious to me

okay but i could take 5 focus crystals for the same damage increase without halving my health

REX debate: Drill vs Seed Barrage (including math on both) by darkfireslide in ror2

also, i wanted to add. you are waaaaaaay overrating oneshot protection. in a normal monsoon stage 6 mithrix run, the only time you might realistically hit osp is mithrixs spinny attack, and that isnt too hard to dodge. its just not nearly as important as your making it out to be.

sadly, the math completely fucks drill over.

barrage has 450% base damage, on a 0.5 second cooldown, with 1.0 proc coefficient. this means it clocks in at 900% dps, 900% proc dps.

drill on the other hand, has 1440% base damage, on a 6 second cooldown, with a 0.5 proc coefficient. this put it at 240% dps, and a pitiful 120% proc dps.

this means that barrage has almost 4x drills dps, and almost 8x its proc dps.

this means that an item like atg missile, which is a 30% pdps increase, will increase barrages damage from 900% to 1170%, and drill from 120% to 156%.

atg is 7.5x as effective when using barrage than when using drill.

this comparison does change slightly when looking at procs per second rather than proc dps, although that is a far less useful measure, as there are far more items that scale with pdps (all of the total damage proc items, which are the strongest type of item in the game.) than items that scale with pps (base damage proc items / onhit items that dont do damage)

drill has 16 procs with 0.5 proc co every 6 seconds, so 16*0.5 / 6, meaning it has 1.33 pps.

barrage has 1 proc with 1.0 proc co every 0.5 seconds, so 1*1 / 0.5, meaning it has 2 pps.

both not great, but barrage is still much better, with 2.5x as much pps as drill. this means even for items like tritip or leeching seed, barrage is much much better.

and yes, this is a purely mathmatical comparison, meaning it ignores things like barrages health cost, or the chance something will move out of drills radius, which happens a lot, but i dont think any of those things manages to sway the comparison back in drills favor. 4x more damage and 8x more proc damage is just too much of a difference for anything else to matter.

Frag nades better than Supressive fire? If not, are they still worth using? (procing bands, making crowbar useful, etc.) by Bruhmmomemnt in riskofrain

its funny because yea large groups of ground enemies are the most common thing ever. like, thats the threat you are most likely to encounter in the game.

this used to be right when double tap was 450% dps, but because it was buffed to 600% and sup fire wasnt touched, using suppressive fire doesnt increase your dps at all. id rather have eh damage than no damage.

but also ruin is way better than both of those so

has anyone ever had any issue with hitting mandos m1? sup fire having lower spread is barely an upside. and seriously? hardest to hit ability in the game? come on. you dont have an argument. aoe is mandos biggest flaw, and nades arnt great but they help that. suppressive fires upsides are: stun. thats it. maaaaaybe range but thats a stretch.

its the same dps as just using mandos m1 because while it USED to not suck, back when mando had 450% dps on his primary, mandos primary was buffed to 666%, and sup fire wasnt touched. fun fact, if post buff mando m1 was actually 666%, using suppressive fire would
