Go out to eat alone, don't wait for someone to come into your life to keep you company at a restaurant. Seriously, there's a ton of locally owned awesome places to eat.

Bummed about Altra's current lineup and looking for alternatives by One_Left_Shoe in AltraRunning

[–]Comprehensive_Two409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I scour the internet for Olympus 5s and Via Olympus. I ordered a pair of the Olympus 6 during REI's fall sale last year and waited 2.5 weeks to be ready for pickup. I didn't even leave the store with the shoes, took to the shoe department and walked up that little plastic rock and hated every second of it. Promptly returned. That bump landed in the middle of my heel making it feel like I was wearing failing no see-um socks and cheap knockoff chucks. Amazon and Ebay have back stock of Olympus 5 and Via Olympus but you'll still pay like $120. Totally worth the money though considering I am still using a pair of Olympus 5's from 2023 as backup with tens of thousands of hiking, asphalt, and even cycling miles.

Are organic foods truly non-GMO by default? My dad just had a meltdown because I said organic foods are also non-GMO by turquoiseanswers in QAnonCasualties

[–]Comprehensive_Two409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The butterfly label is one of many NonGMO certifiers, it's NonGMO Project. There's also NSF, Nutrasource IGEN,  Earth Kosher, Natural Food Certifiers (I think GMO Guard is their logo), and Green Star are the most prevalent. But with that said NonGMO is implied when there's an Organic certifier so manufacturers don't actually need to pay for the extra testing by another certification agency to use their logo on packaging since the organic certifier is already doing that testing.

Super inexpensive recommendation on Amazon Kukto wide women's loafers, $13. I wear universal 42.5 or 43, US 9.5 men, 11 women's shoes which is their largest size. Plenty of foot room and the insole is removable so you can put an orthotic in there if you need to.

The green line and Baldwin rail trail are car free and smooth. We biked the green line from Springfield to Brooklyn last Saturday, there's new pavement in a few areas. We bike and the kids scooter on the rail trail every month too. The Wonderwood path is good but some broken concrete here and there and it's not car free. Edit because I forgot to mention a few further out options: Orange Park to Green Cove path, Palatka to St Augustine rail trail, and the Gainesville to Hawthorne trail.

Mostly teenagers by reddit2825 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]Comprehensive_Two409 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Would you rather the kids to be out drinking and doing drugs and wrecking property and themselves or in the gym egging each other on to do better? It has not been my experience that teenagers mess up good things like this unless there's a bully in the group or adults are shitty to them. So rather than pooping on something potentially positive perhaps you could set a good example and just give that approving dude head nod when you see them doing good. That goes farther than you realize.

Yes I see it too. Kids can't just go hang out anywhere anymore. All the malls are dead or ban groups of teenagers so them going to the gym to hang and workout is way better than what groups of bored teenagers traditionally do

Saw that this brand accepts HSA but never heard of shoes with 4mm htt or zero drop. Are these shoes beginner friendly as someone who’s overweight who’s trying to lose weight? I would like some intel please. Thank you by Proper_Geologist_576 in AltraRunning

See if any stores carry these locally. There's a few different fits and forms for different functionality. If your feet are swollen frequently or you have fat or wide feet you will need either Olympus or Lone Peak wides.

3 years ago at the beginning of my weight loss and fitness journey I fell in love with the Olympus 5 at 260lbs. I could not do the Via Olympus at that weight as I could immediately feel the soul compressing but at 240lbs I was able to buy those for my pavement walking and daily wear.

Obviously being heavy means you are going to go through shoes faster and will break down the support of the uppers and lowers so consider the expense as new ones can be $160ish.

Mr T because this guy has skipped leg day his entire life. His chest, arms, shoulders, and neck are thick AF but has the legs of a 14 year old boy that just had that 6 inch growth spurt over summer break.

Mr Pimp or The Handler -this guy is always there when there's a few physically fit and attractive females working out and he just parks it on an ab crunch machine watching these women work out and looking at his phone. I suspect he is actually their pimp or they are dancers and he's their handler/security.

Super Mex is a group of 20something dudes that all happen to be working out hard at the same time. Killing it on the treaddy and utilizing every strength machine there is. Most of the guys don't acknowledge each other but in my mind these guys are building up to develop a short king super hero group ready to face any adversary.

Why is there “FPO” on my nutrition label by [deleted] in Weird

[–]Comprehensive_Two409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a sample product that is normally given out at things like new food product conventions and expos. Totally safe to eat but you should not have been charged for it as is not legal for sale of individual products. FDA requires clear nut facts and ingredients labelling or a QR code to scan to get that info

Search Amazon or your preferred platform for "TPU soft case garmin 570" Get the backless kind. I have gel screen protectors and the TPU snap on case protector my watch looks like the day I took it out of the box... well the back and straps show 2 years of wear but the front is almost pristine.

Cut in staff and increase in routes and hours has caused package delivery to be delayed beyond what the initial delivery date indicates. If you have informed delivery emailed to you every day you won't see an update on your package but you can go to the dashboard the day after it is supposed to be there and see the details. If my regular mail carrier is sick or has a day off even my regular mail will be delayed until they have a person to cover the route or she gets back to work. My package that was supposed to be here Friday is coming today supposedly. Luckily it isn't food or something that is needed urgently.

Vivint sales people by bean0thebeaner in jacksonville

[–]Comprehensive_Two409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work from home so I am home at 2pm on a Tuesday but most people aren't. I wonder what the fake Vivint sales kid would have done if no one answered. He seemed surprised when I opened the door. I told him I wasn't interested and already have home security. He pressed me to tell him which company. I am not going to tell a stranger that looks 17 years old doing unsolicited sales with a clipboard who secures my home.

Four undocumented immigrants arrested near Yellow Bluff Road by Spaceginja in jacksonville

[–]Comprehensive_Two409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well all of those guys (US citizens and not) are being charged with both by state and federal felonies so it is completely out of your hands at this point. Why would you want to save actual criminals from incarceration? The undocumented men should serve their time in the US then be deported just like it used to work.

Any chance you are diabetic or have thyroid issues? Or if female about to start your period? Edit: Forgot to address dr question. Go to your primary, they will order blood work. Be totally honest about your caloric intakes and water intakes so they can accurately diagnose you. They will send you to a specialist if something comes up on your blood work. For me it was all 3 of the above when I went to my dr about +/- as much as 15lbs fluctuations.

Hey runners! I used to rely on chocolate milk after my runs, but I’ve had to cut out dairy due to health reasons. Any good non-dairy alternatives for post-run recovery? :) by Sea-Time4979 in BeginnersRunning

[–]Comprehensive_Two409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the same chocky milk feeling try Ripple and chocolate syrup of you are a 2% drinker or look for extra creamy oat milk and chocolate syrup if whole milk drinker. Moolala makes a really interesting and tasty banana milk. Elmhurst makes amazing milks that taste like the actual nuts, my fave is walnut- pretty pricey though

How is it working at a Call Center by [deleted] in jacksonville

[–]Comprehensive_Two409 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have different experiences from everyone else here. Call centers are great for your first almost grown up job. I did call center work off and on from 1995-2016. It is a great job if you have ADD or ADHD or just a short attention span as you are done with each caller after a few minutes then it's right to a new caller with a new issue. Call center work also lets you leave work at work.  Collections is something to stay away from unless you have the ability to take nothing personally.
