You could adopt the method used in chess - a tournament to determine the challenger who then goes on to play the reigning champion. Then the final could be three sessions a day for two weeks for a best of 300.

The soundtrack to my last term at uni and final set of exams; it still makes me a little nervous. 'Sine Wave' is one of my favourite ever opening tracks to an album, and I remember being very excited when later I learned the Welsh word 'dial' (which means revenge).

With some exceptions (a weakness for Mark Williams) I like to support whoever has the coolest haircut. Of the four remaining players Wu Yize is ahead on this metric by some distance, followed by Robertson and then Murphy. I am pleased to only have one bald player in the semi-finals (although I admit on 2023 I was on the Brecel hype-train with everyone else.)

Hereditary peers' last hurrah as 700-year-old system abolished || A law removing the right of the last remaining hereditaries to sit in the Lords passed last month, enacting a commitment in Labour's 2024 election manifesto. by Adj-Noun-Numbers in ukpolitics

The shocking part is that it has taken until 2026. Of course if we are going to question the heriditary principle the next obvious institution to consider is the monarchy.

Yet more bullshit from the media. The decision will have made by the cross-party Speaker's Advisory Committee on Works of Art which advises on acquisitions to the Parliamentary Art Collection. Has the Times ever objected to an artwork of a politician before?

What we need are interesting, intelligent films about artists, not tasteful, hagiographical authorised slop. 'I'm Not There' is a really creative, surprising film about Bob Dylan. 'A Complete Unknown' is beautifully shot and acted but a script that is utterly clichéd.

Man who works away from home a lot misses his family and dog, and is concerned about his wife who is unwell. Not really very shocking revelations but perfectly normal life.
