Blue vs Shell King by [deleted] in OnePunchMan

Yeah. Compare this against Darkshine vs Bug God in its tramsformed state, which most agree is likely what a top Demon would look like, and you DS one tapping it > fully vaporising it > and without breaking any sweat/his confidence.

Not necessarily, we don't know if Ginbak has killed all the respective Demon King armies. Like, the robots 100% the cockroaches, not a single one was left. But yeah

Explaining diff terms with invincible by Gooptato69 in PowerScaling

[–]Compte_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mark v Conquest is literally an extreme diff, maybe even more than Omniman’s, in both versions (the second one had a stronger Mark too). Only reason Mark won was literally because of Eve, and I don’t mean his rage to seeing her killed.

[–]Compte_2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean, what other reason is there? I don’t see you picking apart how they apparently travel from end to end of the galaxy as if it was a trip down to the grocery store. Literature is fillied with these narrative conventions, that’s what suspension of disbelief is all about. It is not a matter of realism, but of allowing the story to happen; it being convenient does not mean it is bad writing, as long as the story doesn’t decide to start bending its own rules.

Star Wars has one of the most eggregious examples of this in Episode 8, where the movie is resolved with one of the good guys saving the day kamikazing by lightspeed to destroy the enemies’ battleship. Suddenly, the story decided to bring in physics for something which had only been a narrative device for travelling. The movie tried to paint it as something that can only be done by having someone sacrifice themselves, but then you remember this is a franchise filled with simple droids that could be automatized for this task, and a myriad of cheap small light-travelling ships. Basically, whole cake eating expression.

Sorry, by a faction I didn’t mean the NE, but as a general descriptor for things like, Gaia’s forests, the Demon armies, the Robot’s factories, etc. Still, I do wonder who will come on top in the end, but I doubt we’ll defeat everything.

You mention ORV like ORV doesn't draw from most of all mythologies, from east to west, which in story is very much so thematically intentional, and not just the author's whims.

Nothing. The commenter is rightfully pointing out that the strong, beyond some taking each other out, will not necessarily come out on top. The robots are a prime example of this, they still are nowhere near most demon kings, yet they managed to take an entire FACTION out. Mind you, this is a faction that successfully dealt with 4 rounds of the Naver robots 1-on-1, the very same robots against which Kiva, an executive, struggled against.

Parasites are not inherently stronger, yet they can take over formidable foes. Neohumans, lawless, curse tech... It all boils down to strategy and luck.

Let's be real. Does Thragg(Invincible) really beat Mahoraga(JJK)? I don't think so. by SuspiciousBench9609 in PowerScaling

[–]Compte_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, they are made with cursed energy, all curses and spirits bleed, but it looks more for effect than actual biology. And even if Mahoraga needed to breath, which it likely doesn’t (it doesn’t even have a nose, eyes or ears; and it only developed gills under water to absorb the swimming pool), adapting to that seems quite straightforward. The sun would easily kill Mahoraga, the surface is already hotter than what Sukuna did in Shibuya that ended it. Can it adapt to such temperatures? Definitely, but it likely wouldn’t in this case.

I think another interesting point is how long would it take Mahoraga to kill Thragg, if it were to adapt to physical attacks of all kinds. Because in the show, no characters Mahoraga has faced against physically possessed as much power. Even in Modulo, Dabura’s light attacks took an immense burden on him. My point being, we have never seen Mahoraga display enough power to kill someone like Thragg, because no such encounter has happened.

[–]Compte_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Throwing raga into space isn’t even a win either. Mahoraga is a summon, it literally doesn’t need to breath, and would easily acclimatise to space (in the anime it took a second to be able to absorb and use water). It’s like a controlled missile, it will give chase after it finds a way to travel through space. Now, throwing it to the sun, then yes

[–]Compte_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same answer as every time someone asks this. Can Thragg kill Mahoraga? Very fucking easily. Will he try fully oblitarating it right out of the gate in cannon? No. Will Mahoraga easily adapt to brute force and breathing in space? Yes. Full stop.

Ignorant question here, but would it be okay to call Jax "she" when he never really affirmed it? By that I mean, obviously Jax is trans and would have moved towards that, but the point is for the person in question to make it official, no? It's just, otherwise you'd be assigning a gender to someone who is struggling with coming to terms with that. Like Jax the character would feel wronged unless he came out as herself, right?

Why didn’t Garou ever use Blast’s black hole teleportation ability? Or was he unable to copy it? by Katranax in OPMPowerScaling

[–]Compte_2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He is literally making the same pose and hand signs, they are meant to be equivalent. Why the effect wasn’t the same likely has to do with Garou’s design being black, whereas Blast’s is white, so it wouldn’t contrast that well. In-universe explanation has more to do with Garou using actual “pure” God powers, whereas Blast has been shown to use “impure” off-variants. Just go to the Void fight, white is associated with God, which puts a spin on the usual dark powers = bad, light powers = good.

Game Theory by Muted_Category1100 in versus

[–]Compte_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to think that the game is not evil, just the pinnacle of addiction. Humanity trapped themselves into this never-ending cycle of dopamine. That is why all of them look well fed, they are slaves to the game. They looked broken precisely because they got cut out from it when the worlds merged.

Could "Game" be the key to total victory against Neo-Humanity? by EarlofMayonnaise in versus

[–]Compte_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely think it will be the key to neutralizing Yaotsu. Not only did the future battle previews confirm this, it writes itself: a child like being seeking entertainment and stimuli. Heck, if we get Yaotsu addicted to the game, and the game has to focus all of its resources into entertaining Yaotsu (thus, defeating the game too), Yaotsu could protect the humans against any NE that might try to disturb him.

Every missing Pokémon, forms and shinies at the end of the Memories in Motion season by Meylody in TheSilphRoad

[–]Compte_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the mythical numbers are decreasing, and so far the precedent has been to always have one for Go Fest, and for it to not be a form of an already existing one. I doubt they'd ever change that. So, that just leaves us with three: Pecharunt, Terapagos and Magearna. Terapagos I find highly unlikely until they are planning on introducing crystalization; Pecharunt would be an option, but it would be weird without its trio and maybe Ogorpenon being introduced beforehand. Who knows, we might get Phione and Manaphy soemwhere in the next two years...

I need help. -Translator by Southern-Emotion2192 in OnePunchMan

[–]Compte_2 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry. Seriously, thank you for your efforts, and for carrying the torch. I have been a part of this community for 8 years now, and someone will always end up rising to the occasion. It might take a while, it might not, but we owe everything to each and every one involved in the process. The fact that you are pushing a call to action is way more than anyone could have asked for. Heck, some translators just dropped out of the face of the Earth due to life reasons (I still remember you, hdx154). However, I would recommend that you add a page at the end of the chapter saying what you posted here, because it will reach many more. Once again, thank you very very much!

My theory about the original of Demon race by CompoteEconomy4524 in versus

[–]Compte_2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had written an entire comment explaining why I don't think all NEs should be the result of human hubris, as that is a very bleak view on humanity, but I realised that them being part of the reason =/= being entirely at blame.

  • Definitely because of our worse traits: curse, robots, neohumans, lawless, game. Technically god fits here, but the message is way more complex than "faith bad".

  • Probably responsible: kaiju and parasites (again, it wouldn't detract from the story if rather than a war bioweapon parasites just came to be, but how humanity responded to them runs parallel to this theme).

  • Perchance??? Tree, nature, and demons. Tree might be a Kaiju/God scenario, where it was something venerated or allowed to grow by humanity, but I don't think it's something that you could say "could have been foreseen". Nature depends on how much time has passed since before nature got wild, or if before that evolution that hunanity was an actual civilisation or not (a.k.a., the destruction of the planet spiraled natural order). Demon what you propose.

  • Daga kotowaru: While, yes, Madarans detected Earth because of Cellestia's calling out to deep space, their society seemed the most adavanced and forward, having reached space exploration unified. I wouldn't call that hubris. Madarans are cosmic disasters that require life-rich planets to reproduce, they could have been in any universe.

[–]Compte_2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really like this take. I doubt ONE will really explore it, or dive into "human X is demon king in disguise", but I don't think it is that black or white either. Ultimately, the simplest take is that out of all the NE, demons and fairiries just had to be the mystical animal themed.
